Re: wifiwave2 for apartment building?

I live in densely populated apartment building area with tons of 2.4 and 5ghz APs. I see 20+ of SSIDs. 2.4Ghz is unusable for video calls and 5Ghz is gradually getting worse as the local ISPs upgrade their clients' devices. I have to "hide" in the DFU zone or some weird frequencies to get...

I mean... if you load the Wave2 driver on a 4011 with WiFi, the 2.4 goes dead.

Re: DHCP Option dns failover

The router hands 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4 from the DHCP server. So all clients are trying to send DNS requests to Google.

As I stated... The redirect looks for any thing as dst-address 8.8.8.8 and lands it at the local PI 192.168.1.15.

The netwatch pings the PI. Then enables or disables the NAT rule.

I did this with a NAT rule...
I set a rule for 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to be redirected to the pihole.

I setup a netwatch to watch the pihole.
Pihole went down... disable redirect in the NAT.

Re: Making holes in Firewall to allow for AirPrint from WiFi LAN

Airprint relies on broadcast. Broadcasts don't jump subnets without a helper. Something like mDNS.

You wanna reach that subnet... You can install another device to act as the repeater across subnets...

But you are much better off properly bridging your wired and wireless network.

Yes, looking at specs it seems to have same CPU and RAM as Hap AC2... Used that as a router once in a pinch. My routers tend to have a WAN feed or 2, a feed to a core switch, then a webpower switch and system monitor. I just prefer the monitor and webpower switch be as close to the "bottom of ...

But the hAP AC2 is more than double the throughput, if you actually have to route and can't fast track the connection.

Our ISP gives us internet through Mikrotik Cube60 AC 300/100Mbs. hAP AC3 is not capable of moving this speed in noisy environments. Oh but I respectfully disagree there. I can easily push close to 500Mb (sometimes more) using hAP AC3 using 5Ghz on my internal network. So 300/100 shouldn't be a prob...

So you want a client device to have a specific IP address then block it's internet access?

That's easily done with a DHCP reservation and a firewall filter rule that uses the time settings.
