Re: 20 000 hotspot users

Hi, I have around 2000 Routerboards running hotspots, from 411's to CCR and x86 servers. Working out what device/s you need to think of other important factors such as bandwidth, firewall rules etc. For example you might have a 951U with 200 hotspot users with a WAN bandwidth 20Mb/s and no firewall ...

Re: Please i think my Roter hack

Hi, The first image shows you your HOST table, this is associated users that are NOT authenticated. The second image shows you your ACTIVE table, this shows authenticated users. So you have 6 people connected to your system but only 2 are logged in and using the system. I recommend you go on the MTC...

RB411U + Sierra MC8780 intermittent 3G connection

Hi Guys, I have built 50 3G units from: Mobo: RB411U's 3G: Sierra MC8780 Wi-Fi Radio: R52nM 42 of them seem to work fine, the other 8 do not. The other 8 are configured exactly the same as the working units. I have tried different SIMs from different providers with the same results. All the SIMs wor...

Re: VLAN Trunk Port

Thanks but I'm not really here to argue about VLANs or IEEE standards. 1.) I'm just trying to get the point across that I don't want to set up all VLANs on the port (Tagged), I just want the port to accept all VLAN IDs (Trunk), but not to route between them I have been using bridge horizons. The app...

Re: VLAN Trunk Port

By "true trunk" I mean it will forward all tagged frames, some people describe tag ports as trunk ports. So basically if you set up 2 VLANs 20,10 on a switch port and turn trunking off, this is a tagged port and member of VLAN 10 and 20. A trunk port is a port that will forward any frame t...

Hi, Thanks. But its basically the end of the network so its a Routerboard running a hotspot. So I need it to accept any VLAN tag then send it back out on the same VLAN. VLAN Trunk Port

Hi All, Does anyone know how to set up a true trunk port? By that I mean it will accept all tagged traffic without adding the VLAN to the router and won't route all the different VLANs, so they cannot see each other. Basically I want to be able to set a port on Routerboard so that it can be plugged ...

I would agree if you changed the product description "SXT is a low cost, high speed 2GHz outdoor wireless device".

Maybe add: its not waterproof so its not really suitable for outdoor.

It should be a sealed unit with a CAT5 gland built into the unit similar to the Ubiquiti Bullet Titanium.

Re: Hotspot Scale...

Hi,

I wouldn't recommend 50k users on one hotspot.

You would be better having multiple servers then adding the users to the same RADIUS group. If you need to roam between hotspots use MAC auth.

I would say 20k MAX hotspot...

50k maybe possible but may not be wise

Hi, Could you not have 2 RADIUS entries one of a Nomadix (field_A) and one for Mikrotik (field_B) Then do something like.... if gateway = Nomadix then NAS = (field_A) if gateway = Mikrotik then NAS = (field_B) That way if you added anymore gateways you could just add another field

My Wish List: 1. An internal AP with "beamflex" Ruckus style antenna. Either 802.3af compliant or Mikrotik make a bigger PoE switch. Also this AP must blend in well with its environment such is this Zyxel or the Ubti internal APs. http://www.zyxel.com/uk/en/products_services/nwa1120_series...

Try turning auto-negotiate off and then set the link speeds manually, if the manual link speeds you have set still fail then try a different speed + duplex.

I have seen this a few times with other vendors...

Yes which is why it would be good to see them being made with Solid Capicitors instead of liquid. 450G update CPU+RAM+Solid Capicitors

Hi MikroTik You have updated and brought a lot of new products out which is great. (951G) Are you planning to update the long serving 450G? With a new gen CPU, more memory and maybe solid capacitors? (Maybe 800MHz with 512Mb ram to sit between 915, 2011 and the RB1200?) I think it would be great if ...

Hi, The client is possibly running something like VMWare Workstation. where a single machine has a single NIC and is bridging his VM's with the NIC on the host, they could have given each VM a static IP which is what you are seeing? Hi, Have you tried binding the ip addess/ range that you wish to ping? To do so go ip binding tab on hotspot and type in range such as 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.20 or a single ip then under type select bypassed. You should then be able to ping the addresses. Or create a firewall rule to allow access to ...

We use the Ruckus faceplate AP's. Brilliant bits of kit. Surely Mikrotik can make a product like this based on the 751/951 platform.
