Re: Please add basic portScan tool ( port scanner scan )

+100

Basic need for networks we don't have a VPN into but need to troubleshoot/scan if a particular service is up or identify services running on the network.

It doesn't have to be nmap. Just some basic port open/closed/filtered logic in a loop.

PLEASE.

Re: Feature request: tool/fetch new property - no-log

+1. My script needs to /tool fetch a url as an https 'get' for update the ddns service. There is no actual file but the fetch creates a 2 byte file in the name of the url query. The file is named "?=xxx" where xxx is a mixed random string (the update token). This file is difficult to deal with due t...

Re: New Dude to Backup Routers

There is no such statement I can point at. Just like the history repeats... We already saw a development gap of dude and it happens again. There are many requests and bug reports that lies untouched for a long time. Don't expect that mikrotik will confirm the actual state. Ok. Thanks for your input...

Re: New Dude to Backup Routers

I know that because I read the changelogs. And because I use the dude for years... A link might have been helpful since none of the changelogs I found mention stopping development. I did find a forum thread where Normis says that the dude is stable and so I suppose that implies there's no further d...

Re: New Dude to Backup Routers

Looks like there is no development of dude again... You know that how? Was it announced or is there gits/svns to follow? It's a shame. Maybe time to really look elsewhere? It's a [potentially] pretty good product, not just for Mikrotiks, though of course the integration is a big plus. I liked it fo...

Re: New Dude to Backup Routers

We have some ideas for automatic backup system for monitored ROS devices, but it will be some time before anything like that is actually implemented in The Dude. So we're about a year and a half later. Any news/progress on this? This is the primary feature we want for deploying The Dude and for inc...

Not sure what all people are on about in this thread - I followed the instructions above to that nasa-security.net link and it worked great for me.

Re: Functions in CMD Scripts

Is this still relevant with regards to ROS v6 or even v5? Or is there a more 'native' way to pass parameters and call functions/routines or even other scripts now?

thx.

Re: Comments about RouterOS release schedule

Absolutely positively +100! This type of branching is standard in many software developments and should be kept for v7 and beyond. I think this will go a long way toward addressing many users' fear of updating to latest point releases. One of the first advices I was given on 'tik and give to others ...

Troubleshoot bizarre packet loss issue to WAN (v5.20/2.41)

I have a 750gl and just started noticing (about a month ago) that I am getting drops between my laptop and the Internet. Laptop is hardwired to the same 16 port dumb switch as the rest of the lan. WAN port of router is connected to an Arris cable modem (no routing, wireless, etc. just a modem) What ...

In winbox, in terminal window, hit Ctrl+v then press enter.
Should see your prompt change from >> at the end to single >

Try your paste again.

BTW, Ctrl+v turns of the auto complete feature. That's what causing the errors.

Re: MikroTik why not turn to new Cisco/Juniper?

when you have restricted environment and that is working for you - it is fine, when you grow out of it you have a problem. Either you have to upgrade using technology from your current provider or you have to go to new equipment provider. As far as RouterOS goes - you can get basic device that has ...

Re: PPTP Server w/Windows 7 PPTP Client PLEASE HELP!!

--- If you're willing to wait a week or two, I'll see about doing a quick and dirty set of docs for OpenVPN. [I'll be dammed, though, if I post them here. Mikrotik can't be bothered to write up their own docs, and unless I get paid, they're not getting mine.] So they'll probably get posted on my we...

Re: adding scripts from terminal

The solution is to enter a new line "\n" and a carriage return "\r" to where you want the line break. I found the order of the carriage return and newline to matter. CR must come first (eg. \r\n). This is on ROS v5.20. Example /system script add name=UpdateNTPServers policy=ftp, read,write,policy,te...

ROS 5.20, 750gl - Switched traffic not showing in Torch?

Hi all, I'm setting up some gear for a small office deployment and have set up a 750gl, mostly with defaults (export compact below) The WAN port of this 750 is connected to my existing lan (another 750gl, with a 16port switch) ports 4 and 5 have two Synology NASs on them. I am mirroring one NAS to t...

Re: API Port 8728 - Not Available

Just a point to note: Opening the service in /ip services alone is not enough (at least it did not work for me.) I also needed to create a firewall filter rule to accept packets on that port as well. Yes, maybe it's a little obvious but for a noob or just someone newly climbing the Mikrotik learning...

On the wiki it mentions FTP and Telnet and Local and Web, none of which I see as options in Winbox. Further, in Winbox I see ch...
