Re: nslookup on Mikrotik

First, try to ping fqdn of an MX record (or any non A record) and all above methods will fail and no IP will be returned. And this is something you need to do from your router? When exactly? I am not saying it wouldn't be nice if the ":resolve" got some more options, for example to lookup...

Re: Help with router choices?

Will v7 be easily backward compatible with these? Is v7 have all of the "I'm new!" bugs worked out yet? v7 will probably be backward compatible with anything v6 offers ... some day. Currently v7 is missing some features and has quite a few bugs. So it's definitely not ready for prime-time...

Re: Help with router choices?

Yes if knowing 1gig is a possibility the RB5009 is best bang for the buck at the moment. The RB4011 is not bad either and a little less but getting old in the tooth. 5009 is a bit questionable for me as none of the other devices are on v7 yet. This site has some vpn connections to 1 or 2 other site...

Help with router choices?

Hi all. Looking for some guidance on appropriate router model(s) for a site. I would categorize this site as an "advanced" home network, maybe something on the order of a home lab in terms of complexity. Looking for the least or less expensive options. Wireless is not really needed. If it'...

Re: nslookup on Mikrotik

The problem with this tact is that it only allows to resolve the first A record. NSLOOKUP allows record type lookups like MX, SOA, etc. How to accomplish this on Mikrotik?? Need an NSLOOKUP type tool. What I wrote in #12 is the only other way I think we have right now. Other than that, use an actua...

Re: Blocking IP's by region [SOLVED]

Pretty cool link. The firewall syntax they use shows this was designed for a bit older revs of RouterOS, but it will work just fine in modern revs as well. You may also want to cross-check the address lists generated against some other sites with similar lists, because this can change from time to ...

+100

Basic need for networks we don't have a VPN into but need to troubleshoot/scan if a particular service is up or identify services running on the network.

It doesn't have to be nmap. Just some basic port open/closed/filtered logic in a loop.

PLEASE.

+1. My script needs to /tool fetch a url as an https 'get' for update the ddns service. There is no actual file but the fetch creates a 2 byte file in the name of the url query. The file is named "?=xxx" where xxx is a mixed random string (the update token). This file is difficult to deal ...

There is no such statement I can point at. Just like the history repeats... We already saw a development gap of dude and it happens again. There are many requests and bug reports that lies untouched for a long time. Don't expect that mikrotik will confirm the actual state. Ok. Thanks for your input...

Troubleshoot bizarre packet loss issue to WAN (v5.20/2.41)

The solution is to enter a new line "\n" and a carriage return "\r" to where you want the line break. I found the order of the carriage return and newline to matter. CR must come first (eg. \r\n). This is on ROS v5.20. Example /system script add name=UpdateNTPServers policy=ftp, ...
