Re: v6.42.7 [current] is released!

I noticed that interface "last link up/down times" are in the future.
I have the same problem, noticed on 6.42.6 version. Seems to be only Winbox problem, in console and WebFig it's correct.

Memory profiler

Hello, after a while i was configuring something and noticed lot of memory used. Is there any way i could see what does using it? It looks like i have enabled something at end of the March, but can't find what it was :? It's an ordinary home router so there shouldn't be anything so demanding. Thanks...

Re: RB2011 mount and router power cord problem

There are few threads regarding the microUSB. The reason for microUSB is, that MikroTik planned some features for connecting to computer (use RB as modem or something), but they aren't there yet (i guess that will be introduced together with mAP), even in settings can be found client or host mode op...

Re: RB951-2n PoE question

According to Zyxel's web, it has 802.3af (active) PoE, which needs to negotiate power for working. RouterBoards as opposite are using passive PoE (just voltage in two wires), so they doesn't ask for power. (Except mAP, which should support both.) I don't know, if there is any simple solution. Probab...

Winbox stores it's data in %AppData%\Mikrotik folder, if can't write here it stores data in current working directory. Check permissions settings of that folder.

Upgraded RB2011-UiAS. The "starting services" screen stays longer than usual and in log i found one more reboot with kernel failure. Then about minute aftrer start ethernet interfaces were "restarted". Built-in NTP client works, auto-frequency works. Quickset shows WISP AP page, ...

Re: which serial console cable?

Yes, i can't find console cable nearby for reasonable price, so i've buyed RS232 cable, blue UTP and made it myself according to pinout at Cisco's site. Here are my notes for pinouts on both sides RJ45 is according to T-568B DB9 _____ RJ45 8 - orang/whit (1____| 6 - orange (2____|__ 2 - green/whit (...

Re: High CPU Load RB2011UiAS

I have noticed this too, on idle router (used as switch+AP, all computers off, just connected to second RB) with LCD off i have around 6% usage. RB751G-2HnD in same configuration+routing goes to 0%. Don't care about it much, since performance is still far above my needs. Now i found out, that with R...

I don't think that is necessary to localize product targeted for professional usage in IT domain, where you simply cannot exist without at least basic english. Actually i think that it's contraproductive in this case, because if it's in english, you can easily find a help or howto (or make some) abo...

Re: Allow choice of binding interface for NTP and DNS server

Maybe it's good idea to have DNS and NTP (and other) servers configured the same way as DHCP (per interface), i don't know. But for sure you should have a "block everything" rule below the rules, in which you allow something. I think it would be unnecessary more complicated to have access ...

At top of "wireless" page should be "security profiles" tab, create new (and set it in the interface configuration) or modify existing.

Try ask for them explicitly by using .proplist argument.

Re: Wifi keeps mobile device awake? [keepalive packets]

The battery drain can be stopped by enabling WiFi powersave mode in Android WiFi settings - but as this isn't supported by ROS, you can expect troubles with push-mail or other things, that need to use WiFi when on powersave. I heard somewhere, that the missing WMM could be cause for problems with Ap...

Bit late, but hope not too much... At first i must to ask: Why you want to remove ports from switch and then try to make them work like if they are in switch? What exactly you want to achieve? Do you want to access studio devices from outside network? But for some reason, if I try to remove the defa...

I saw it on my Android 2.3.3 (HTC Vision) once (not sure, if it was MTik hotspot) and two times on Win7 notebook.
And then countless hotspots without this notification. It looks like some hotspot option.

Since ROs 6.0 (some rc) it is possible to set options per lease, but i get "Unknown data type (6)" error when creating any option.

Re: Unable to access management of the WiFi AP

You want access from 2 subnet only to management and not to AP's clients? AP probably block access to management from WAN port, then don't use WAN port on AP and set them (RB and AP) to same subnet. On RBoard is enough to set 192.168.3.0/24 addres just on interface connected to AP, so it isn't neces...

Re: Firewall rules between two LAN help

I think i figured it out: you allow established connections, but to establish TCP connection you already need link in both directions.

So i think you should allow all traffic from server to second network, so he can respond and establish the connection, then the established rule isn't needed.

DNS server will allow you to access computers by name, but NetBIOS discovery is more complicated. It isn't designed to work this way. My idea is to do something like ARP-proxy but for NetBOIS. Problem is probably just with the names, because they are broadcasted on subnet and therefore doesn't reach to another subnets. Try to access the computer with IP address instead of name (enter to explorer addressbar \\192.168.50.1). For the names you can setup DNS server on RouterBoard (maybe there...

Re: Reading USB / SD card on RouterBOARD 751G-2HnD or RB450G

ROS can read only Ext filesystem, but windows can't. You need special softwre to access Ext filesystem from Windows.
Simpliest solution now is to format the USB key in RB and transfer files via FTP, winbox or SMB.
