Then boot with the long press of the button with the corresponding flashing light. or no flash.. then the device will appear in the device list. Yes that part works... It's the flashing that fails. Re: NetInstall -> Flashing with RouterOS 6.45.1

Thx wrkq, but that didn't work for me For me it was solved by switching the laptop ethernet port to 100Mbps full duplex. Tried that, at 10Mbps just to make sure packets were not coming "too fast" for the RB2011, but same result. This time I'm using a newer RB2011 hardware, but same problem with 6.45...

Re: NetInstall -> Flashing with RouterOS 6.45.1

Hello Mikrotik support,

Should I re-post this in a different thread ?

I was not sure where to post this. Also, if there's documentation how to flash a config, I could program my own tool to do it. (i.e. What is the compression format ? Do I just TFTP the file over ? Is there a command to issue ?)

I will cut this post into the different questions into new separate posts.
This is probably too long and intimidating to answer so sorry for the re-posts.

Trouble shooting bad default script flashed using NetInstall.

I need to configure 100x RB2011 the same way. I've created MyDefault.rsc that I is a variation on: /system default-configuration print To flash the new MyDefault.rsc, I've used NetInstall and I "believe" I've flashed it with the 6.45.1 firmware. Re: DHCPd specific IP addresses to specific physical ETHx ports.

OK, I will try this. I'll remove the bridge & the ports from the switch and have them managed by the CPU (i.e. alone on their ethernet segment). I understand ARP, but I've never used the ARP proxy functionality before. So if the ports are CPU managed, you're saying that ARP requests will be proxied ...

Yes, the potential that goes through is the potential that goes in the power unit. BUT the device does test, to see if the other side is capable of PoE. Check the manual: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:PoE-Out What you are looking for is at "Port Settings". OK Thank you ! That's perfect. Yes...

Re: PowerBox and non-Poe devices: Will it damage devices like a laptop? [SOLVED]

There is an auto detection system, to find out if the device uses POE, and what type of it. As long as the PoE out port is set as "auto on" (or "off"), You can plug anything you want. PowerBox and non-Poe devices: Will it damage devices like a laptop? [SOLVED]

In a nutshell, I want to be reassured that I can plug any laptop into a powered powerbox and it won't blowup the laptop's ethernet port. I know that Ethernet is an electrically differential signal.
