Update from Mikrotik: Hello, This is how the wireless sync features are working and there is nothing which could be done to improve the situation. If you have lot of clients pointing in one direction then the only solution is to use different wireless frequency. I guess us moving into Mimosa was the...
Ok, So I have had an actual email discussion with an actual Mikrotik agent. Here is his answer: Hello, You can look up in Internet how all the frequency re-use plan works. The CPE should see only the one of the Synced AP - it can't see the other AP otherwise the connection will not work correctly as...
I recently attended the Mum in South Africa. I had to travel 2000 kms to get there, with one of my most important questions being about NV2. When I asked the staff present about it, they simply referred me to email support ...
I recently attended the Mum, and this was my sole question to Mikrotik staff, which they couldn't answer and just told me to email them. Such a nice product with loads of potential. Unfortunately I think they have no intention of developing the wireless leg of their company.
Hi there I would like some clarification please. I was trained that when you setup WDS, and you have the 2 AP's close to one another, they would not be interference for one another, but 'boost' the signal. So noise becomes signal, if I understand it correctly. My question is, does this apply to Caps...
Normis, What this whole community is trying to find out is, are we going to get there with Mikrotik, or can we get a definite answer that we won't ? For us, who have proudly had a Mikrotik only network, with about 5000 devices in the field, I think it is just fair to tell us the truth. Give us at le...
Hi I have fixed this by upgarding to 6.38.5 - had exactly what you had. NAT rules not linked to the OSPF link at all, would cause it to not work. Also, it was not a particular rule. If you disable all but one, no matter which one, OSPF doesnt start. As soon as you disable the last of it, OSPF immedi...
Hi there I realise that the forum is not a paid service, however; in 2 years, we have had no real updated response from Mikrotik. We are being unwillingly forced to look at alternatives as we cannot properly utilize the AC products without a spectrum analyzer. The fact is also that the bigger hardwa...
It looks like we can implement Spectral Scan, but it will take some time. It is on our to-do list Hi Normis - 2 years have passed - is this still in the planning or not ? What we need to decide is if we have to forklift our PtMP network and replace it with something that can GPS sync and also spect...
I started getting this error on a backhual link - I fixed it by turning the station into station-bridge. It has got to do with level 2 to some extent. Hope this helps someone
You know what I don't get. Just like Nokia, Blackberry, and many other examples; too little, too late. Mikrotik has something extra-ordinary. If they could only implement these mentioned features, they will be right up there with the big boys. Unfortunately its seems they do not think that this is r...
Its quite simple really. We have a site with multiple sectors, and multiple SSID's. So if one sector fails, you can simply add the Virtual AP with the SSID, and the IP to OSPF, and everybody runs again. You then have ample time to go and replace the faulty unit, withou affecting your customers.
Hi all Please check attachment. I would like to do that search in terminal. I am searching for all connections, to any of the subnet's IP. It works well in winbox, but I would like to script this so I can trigger it whenever I need to. The goal is to delete all my voip connections when changing to a...
The Mikrotik wiki - http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Grounding - explains two methods of grounding. The 1st is " using a Shielded cable +Board is grounded " and the 2nd "using only shielded cable only " with the 1st method the preferred one. My question is how do I ground the...
Maybe not entirely related, but spectral scan missing on AC makes the units very unappealing to us. We have high noise areas (shared among other WISPs) and we have to stick with normal a/n for our back haul, as we cannot get to see where is open space for 80mhz. We have recently started implementing...
We are where many a WISP has come, or is on their way to. We are expanding, and we need better control over our customer base / network. We run a fully deployed OSPF network, and we are looking at introducing Public IP’s to each of our customers. This is of course a major design overhaul, therefor I ...
We have now installed some Mimosa links, with quite decent results, but its just a dumb bridge. Mikrotik can do so much more. The spectral scan will be a major improvement already.
Hi there
I stumbled upon your script on the wiki, and need it. The problem is the website epicwinrar seems to not be working anymore ? Has it been moved somewhere else ?
Hi I have setup the following test Hotspot: profile with validity of 5m transfer limit 50m So, the problem is that, old users pile up. In the real client setup, I have 100's of users, and what I have picked up is that when the start-time parameter gets to the status 'unknown', then it means that the...
I have a board with a blown ether1 port. The POE still works, so I can use it, but I can't make netinstall use ether2 instead of ether1. Is there any way, i can recover this board ?
Hi there Wondering is someone else have had this issue. We have seen that at random, the radio will get disabled. I sent the tech out there, they can still login, and just enabled the board. It has happened intermittently about 20 times out of 2000 clients. Unfortunately, the techs normally first re...
Hi I have a school that needs to implemented user limits. The way I thought of doing it, is to use Mikrotik Hotspot, and authenticate against the AD. The thing is, I can't find a decent manual or reference for this. Also, I don't know if I can give each user a download limit / uptime with this imple...
Hi
Which PCC classifier have you found to be best ? I battle to get Youtube to continiously stream. Is there a way to adjust the timeout of when the PCC loses the established connection ?
Guys, thanks so much for this, but I need more 'lamens' terms here. My current setup is like this: rb1100 - 01 eth1 vlan1 vlan101 vlan102 vlan103 vlan104 Other side router, which I also have: rb1100 - 02 eth12 vlan1 vlan101 vlan102 vlan103 vlan104 I have to also bridge at router 2, since the goal is...
Hi there I have outgrown a single rb1100 with PCC. What I mean is that I have more than 12 lines (13 ports on 1100, one used for UPLINK.) What I have done, which might be correct or not (therefor the post), is use QinQ vlan, and link up more 1100's, with a bridged ether and corresponding vlan on the...
Hi there I have a PCC balancer running QinQ (vlan inside vlan, if I understand it correctly. Should I change the default MTU for the Ethernet ? Setup is as follows: Router 1: ether1 - default MTU vlan1 - interface=eth1 vlan101 - interface vlan1 IP address assigned to vlan101 I have many interfaces c...
Hi there. The problem is, if you are a WISP, and you give a best effort type service, you can't give every client behind the system a public IP. So, how do we resolve that ? It looks to me that, for any of these games consoles, or even from a PC for that matter with Steam etc, you need to have a pub...
Same behavior, we have 2 x Metal 2.4 Grooves with exactly the same sypmtoms. The 5Ghz Metal Grooves on the same mast, seems stable. So it can't be a power issue. We have resorted to using 433 with RB52Hn cards; seems the Metal 2.4 is NOT a high site unit.
If you don't have control over both sides of the DSL connection (which you probably don't) you can't aggregate to have a total of 9mb. The best you can do is load balance, and PCC works as well as ECMP.
According to my knowledge, no. You would need to have a proper DNS Server for those type of records. Anyway, the reverse DNS lookup is normally done by the owner of the IP, and that normally is your ISP, not you.
I would think if you just use your Mikrotik as a transparent proxy and you have a Parent proxy, this shouldn't be too much of a problem. Obviously, caching on the Mikrotik itself, would need more space.
Hi there We have started using Metal Grooves on high sites for certain of our clients (to utilize the higher power output). The strangest thing has happen once or twice. We have had a groove that has about 5 clients, and all works well, and then after about 8hrs, all the clients just loose connectio...
Hi there I have found a way: chain=prerouting action=add-dst-to-address-list src-address=192.168.x.0/24 dst-address-list=!LAN address-list=FACEBOOK address-list-timeout=0s content=facebook Then you do : chain=forward action=drop dst-address-list=FACEBOOK You will see I said in dst addr list !LAN. He...
I would like to do something along these lines. I woud appreciate your help. I want to do checks on most interfaces, which involves changing a gateway for each test. So I need an array of some sort, and use the names of the interfaces to do the test. foreach i [/interface ethernet find name] and get...
Hi there I always run Virtual AP's for my sectors. I still use ACL for my clients, (need to move to Radius Auth I Know), but we sometimes forget to close the AP after adding a new client. So the goal is as follows: I have a RB433 running 2 Virtual AP's: VAP1 VAP2 I need to have a scripting something...
Not really what I had in mind. I have also done two rules now based on that idea, but was hoping to do everything in one rule. My goal is not really to get it done, but to find better ways of scripting.
Hi So Im kind of new to scripting. I have a simple idea: i have a rb750 with 5 interfaces. I have 3 disabled interfaces. I have commented on of them with the comment "suspect". So my script needs to enable all disabled interfaces, except of those that have the comment "suspect". ...
