Re: v7.2rc6 is released!

IPv6 L3HW is currently in development. However, it is not going to be included in v7.2.
Hello good sir. Is it at all possible we can get more information on L3HW development plans?

I see IPv4 is working, and IPv6 is planned in the future to work. Will MPLS also be part of this as well?

Something I was curious and looking at was the fast path related information for version 7. I noticed that there doesn't seem to be MPLS fast path yet? Is this correct? If there is no MPLS fast path, then does this mean that on the hardware offloads for CRS3xx devices, MPLS is *NOT* offloaded? Or is...

Re: MPLS TE Bug?

I personally have my doubts that this has to do with hardware, but it very well may have to do with the differing CPU architectures that Mikrotik runs RouterOS on. I don't know if the MIPS/PPC architectures that they have can "do" a 64-bit integer. We're all sure and positive that x86, ARM...

That is not the problem. The problem is getting a modern kernel that boots on all of the platforms while supporting hardware offloads. Just my opinion... To be honest, I think it's both. BGP != Forwarding. BGP is a routing protocol. Multi-threaded BGP is hard, really hard. Juniper do not do it, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE do not do it. Processing the prefixes against all the filters, accross multiple cores and coming out with a result "in order" is very complex. This is purely specu...

Re: RouterOS v7.0 beta1 - when?

One of the reasons v7 takes so long, is that routing programs are being completely re-made from scratch. There is nothing yet to backport. Yeah I can totally understand that. Conforming to RFCs and programming a routing stack is *NOT* easy. I'm sure it's one of those things where the programmers sa...

I think I may have found a bug on x86 version of 6.0. I believe that loopback interfaces (or in this case, a bridge without anything on it) might end up being broken when it comes to adding it within OSPFv3. On my MIPS-BE router (RB751) it works perfectly, but on my x86 router it shows as inactive ...

Re: v6.0 released

Something I noticed about upgrading to 6.0 on x86. It kills all of the queues in queue tree. Once I rebuilt the queues everything else works.

Awesome, thank you Mikrotik :)

Request for Mikrotik to allow older versions of code on site

I know that there's older versions of code that Mikrotik has on the download page...however I don't believe that it is sufficient. The code that is there is WAY older....not just a few versions back. It also seems like with the differences/bugs between versions of code that it almost might be benefi...

Re: Having trouble marking return traffic with DSCP...

So BE and CS1 are the traffic classifications under the Diffserv QoS model. BE = Best Effort = "It'll get there when it gets there" CS1 = Class 1 = "A little more important than best effort" It's essentially a Diffserv way of implementing the old school IP Precedence marks. http:...

Re: Having trouble marking return traffic with DSCP...

So, what I am intending to do is this. If a packet comes into the router as BE, and it leaves out to ISP 1, then I want the connection that it makes under connection tracking to mark the return traffic coming back in from ISP 1 as BE. I'm doing that across all classes. So I was thinking to classify ...

Having trouble marking return traffic with DSCP...

Heya guys. I am trying to remark return traffic with certain DSCP marks based on how it enters the router. I did it two ways, and the first way was more effecient but it didn't mark traffic. The second way I thought would also mark traffic but it does not. The second way is less effecient but I thin...

First thing is first... Please proofread your post before you submit. It doesn't help that we have to decipher what you're trying to say. Secondly, attacking Mikrotik doesn't work. If you don't like something about it, and you feel that strongly then get another vendor. Clearly no one here will conv...

Re: Upgrading to V6.0rc12 from V5.5 mipsbe on RB450

Load V6 RC12 into the router (drop the files in) and then see if you can flash the board firmware.

That way you can upgrade the board firmware, and then when you restart it should be able to start in RC 12? I'm just guestimating this...

Firewall filter question/help

Heya peeps.... Just had an issue with the firewall filter and maybe I'm not quite understanding the way IPTABLES does firewalling. Fast-path on x86

Heya Mikrotik peeps/team.

I think we're all super excited over fast-path. I know I am :)

However I got a quick question. Does this also get engaged on x86? Are the performance boost numbers similar for x86 (50% and up?)?

Was just curious...

Keep up the great work, thank you...

Suggestion on adding an indicator for fast path operation

So just a quick question on this Mikrotik peeps. I know there was a discussion in regards to the 64 bit version of the code. I see that the TILE architecture is set to be 64 bit. Heya peeps at the 'tik :) I was just thinking. After the release of v6, would it be possible to just one version after that to be PURELY just a bug fix release? As in, say 6.1. FastPath wont work with connection tracking. So anything that needs conntrack (firewall, mangle, etc.) will "disable" FastPath if you have conntrack in the new Auto mode. Cool cool....that makes sense. So basically if there's anything that uses DPI then FastPath (or Fast-Switching as Cisc...

When one says, "No firewall rules" that means any and all configurations that fall under that right?

So no fast path with Mangle and Marking, or if there is an QoS/Queueing?

Can't one just setup the classes under the interface and then just put a priority on the classes? Therefore higher classes automatically get serviced first and then the lower classes ge...
