Re: x86 or CCR for 10Gbps

With regard to CPU, CCR1072-1G-8S+ has 72 core cpu. 1 GHz x 72 = 72 GHz So this would basically work better. CCRC1072 can handle the task of 10G Easily. Unsure what you wanted to say with your comment on this thread 2 years later. But the info contained in your comment is inherently wrong too. Mhz ...

Passive DAC is limited to 5 meter anyway, most common are 1 meter or 3 meter, but anything longer then 5m is active in theory.

I don't think it's so much an issue of a wrong configuration, but a difference in antenna configuration. For starters the TP-LINK Archer C7 has external 5Dbi antenna's and the hAP AC has internal 1.5Dbi - 2.5Dbi antenna's. This means the TP-LINK will probably always have a bit better reception in si...

Re: MUM Indonesia live! (Biggest MUM ever)

We streamed Turkey MUM in full quality 1080p at 20Mbit.
Indonesia does not have such good internet connection, so we had to lower the bandwidth and resolution

Here is the Turkey live stream copy: https://youtu.be/yA77-M0FiC0
Ah, my bad, 1080p at 20Mbit is awesome! :D

I often watch the live streams but it's sad to see it's only 480p. In this day and age setting up a 1080p or at least a 720p stream is trivial. Hardware costs can't be prohibitive either, a 1080p IP camera can be had for a little bit more then 100$. Re-stream the RTSP (maybe add in sound using OBS f...

There is absolutely no guarantee that you will get the same performance. 350Mbit is actually quite the max of the RB2011 before the "fast" methods where introduced. You can use those, but not combined with some features, so the real answer is a bit more complex. The best is to do your own ...

Re: CRS Pass packet to CPU

To put a port in switch mode you have to define a Master port and set the rest of the ports as a slave port to it. When you don't add the slave configuration to the port it's automatically a 'CPU' port.

Is that what you mean?

Ah, like that. Your picture is nice! :D Routerboards always add all their own interfaces to the routing table under 'routes'. This way traffic always takes the shortest route possible. Have you tried using a 40Mhz channel instead of only 20Mhz? That could easily double your performance and provide what you are used to.

The RB751 you used is dual-chain and could have given you 300Mbps maybe? Anyway, especially with one chain 20Mhz or 40Mhz can certainly make a difference.

Re: Suitable hardware for specific network

As a very quick explanation. The CRS226 will create several layer 2 VLAN's which also end up on the CCR1009 using VLAN tags over the 10Gbit port. There you will create several interfaces which have IP addresses and those will be the gateway's to get "out" of those layer 2 VLAN's to another...

No, they will still be two devices, so the ports of the CRS226 will not be visible on the CCR1009. But if you use VLAN's you can create seperated ports on the CRS226 and then tag them to the uplink to the CCR1009 and it can do the routing (create VLAN interfaces with interfaces in those VLAN's, thus...

It all depends on how the traffic will be used. Copying the files to and from several ports can be accomplished with a switch. From experience with a CRS125 and RB2011 it can handle 200Mbps to 250Mbps of throughput, but not with a too complex rules set in it. So if your configuration is not that tough, sure, it should be a good fit.

Re: 802.11ac questions

I just had a couple quick questions about 802.11ac and Mikrotik. 1. It looks like Mikrotik is using the Qualcomm QCA9882 chips for 802.11ac support. Over here --> https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Qualcomm_Atheros they are said to support 802.11a/b/g/n as well. Is this true? The routerboard.com site makes ...

Why can't you take them with you? You can just send it to yourself in a package? It will cost you a bit, but certainly less then selling it below costs.

Re: BaseBox 2, then adding 5.8

The R11e-5HacD gives you 802.11ac which is inherently compatible with 802.11a, 802.11n (on 5Ghz) and 802.11ac. For an antenna you can use any 5Ghz antenna you would like. You just need the right pigtails (which you seem to have) and then find a RP-SMA antenna for 5Ghz. Either with or without a cable...

Not a waste of time, it might help other people :) Especially around this topic a lot of myths and ideas exist which don't really correlate with reality (anymore), so it's good to test and figure out.

Re: RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN Wireless Throughput

In theory you should be able to achieve around 20MB/sec. This had to do with Wireless being half-duplex, it still needs to send ACK's and such so the effective link speed will be around ~60% of the effective link speed. There is a LOT of overhead, much more then on cabled connections. All the links ...

The best idea is to make a good plan and use more low-power access-points instead of several high-power access-points. Plan for 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz since every device released this day will support it and within now and 2 years you will NEED to have it. For 2.4Ghz plan your spacing and channel usage a...

I believe the SFP+ port will also take a SFP module without problems. This does not go for all SFP+ ports on routerboards though, but in the case of the CCR1009 it should work.

Thank you for your answers, I feared as much. The 1100AHx2 is not an option, as I need a SFP slot, as for the CCR1009, I will try alternative solutions before investing in an additional router. I have not yet tried with routing, but NAT it seems capable of doing at least 2Gbit sustained without too much trouble. Maybe 35% CPU utilization. I do not have the equipment to test more. But if it can do NAT at those speeds I would expect it to be quite capable in routing only!
