Curious phenomenon regarding netmask/gateway?

Hello We have an appliance connected in our network, where I think the network mask is wrongly configured (255.255.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0 maybe), but I can’t view or change it myself. This appliance was reachable nevertheless, so no one noticed. The phenomenon is now, that in two recent situat...

Re: L2TP/IPSec for Road Warrior

Since Apple has dropped PPTP support altogether, I had to switch to L2TP/IPSec and also came across this nasty limit that only one session through the same NATing router is working. :-( With PPTP there was no "fix", but for L2TP there should be! Come on Mikrotik!! One thing here caught my ...

Torch filter rules: how to invert/negate?

Hi

Is there a way to negate a torch filter, like Dst. Address "!192.168.0.0/16" which should mean "NOT local traffic"?
The Winbox GUI marks a rule red as soon as there's something else than digits or dots in the field... :(

Re: Cut off the "wireles part" of a Groove?

Hm, the Crossroads seem to be more expensive than an RB411U (or L). And it's not really small. ;-) But the mAP looks super!! I will definitively buy some of them! And finally *real* PoE... great! Hello I would like to know if it's possible to cut off the "wireles part" of a Groove 2Hn. Yes, literally cut/saw off the PCB, so that a working "wired" MikroTik device remains, but without the bulky WiFi part? I want to find the smallest possible MikroTik device for embed...

You try this?

Doesn't work either. :-(

Re: Using connection-mark in NAT rule doesn't work?

I hope you have writed your own layer7 rule The L7 rule itself is working , I can verify this by checking the connections - as long as I do not use the rule in NAT. If I connect using www.domain.tld it's not marked, when I connect to webcam.domain.tld it gets marked. Perfect. The problem (bug?) is ...

Re: policy based routing and port forwarding / mapping

I figured it out myself: I must add a accept rule for dst ip on router in mangle table (chain prerouting).
Hi, could you elaborate this a bit, or post the full working example? I'm struggling with a mangle/nat problem myself (http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83129)

Re: Using connection-mark in NAT rule doesn't work?

Simply set layer 7 protocol on nat without any type of mangle, are useless Actually, this was my first approach. But since it did not work, I tried the step with the mangle rule inbetween, because there I could see that the connection actually gets marked (hence the rule worked). Or is there a more...

Hello I have an issue with using a connection-mark in a NAT rule. No problem for now, all network now running 6.9, x86, sxlite, groove, Rb433, Rb433AH, RB750, RB711. The crazy thing is, all other lists in Winbox do have columns that CAN be adjusted in width; just not in the log window! :(
It seems the solution for MikroTik programmers would be super easy: just add column names (date, source, bla message) on top of the log window and done?!

It means that only RouterOS reports them in the logs. I captured the output of the GPS module on the serial interface, and it's visible that the wrong date is a bug in the GPS firmware. I just want to fetch GPS position data (hence the USB port) through wifi from the lakeside. A simple, compact yet powerful and weatherproof device would be the best. OmniTIK is hopefully ok, I have to test the distance and how it's performing while moving. :)

why not look into RB751U-2HnD?
Not suitable for my project (weatherproof housing, mounting on a sailboat mast). OmniTIK is the next best alternative, although a bit bulky due to the 5 port switch, only 400 mW and not available in 2.4 GHz. :(

When we install SXTs near the coast we have to spray them with a similar stuff otherwise they start to rust up.
Did you find a suitable spray that doesn't affect the RF properties?
