Re: What free VPN client to use with my PPTP server on Mikro

Hi all, Tried a few VPN clients none of them work properly, can't even connect, please advice a good free VPN client for Windows. Re: RB951-2n WiFi is flaky

So you're using it as an ap only, no routing? From a terminal post the output of: export compact

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yep, AP only -- no routing.

thanks for suggestion computer link was 1G First i logged into winbox, into interfaces and uncheked Auto Negotiation checkbox in ether3-slave-local properties, speed radio was at 100 Mbps Then clicked buttun Apply and immediately lost connection to router. Lost dhcp ip, Winbox don't see it, and eve...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

v5.22 doesn't support partitions. You should install v6.0rc7, then go to partitions menu, repartition it back to one partition, then proceed to install v5.22 if you want. Some other observations: 1) Ether1 is firewalled by default (ie. after reinstall) so use 2-5 after netinstall is complete 2) if ...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

Now to restore my most recent config and see what grief that causes. (Yes, I do have a v6 config) The v6 config (created under v6.0rc6) was restored just fine under rc7. Everything is back up and running. I'll test the effectiveness/stability of the wireless over the next few days. Hopefully, it wo...

Given the new hardware, I wonder if the wireless will be much better with these than with the first gen 951...

Re: RouterBoard 951-2n

wireless interface disappears. I can see other wifi spots but mine not. Yes, I have seen that with the 951-2n as well. Going to v5.20 some months back helped out a lot, but then the performance would randomly drag occasionally, so I only allow devices I don't care much about to connect to that wire...

Re: RB 951-2n bricked/unusable after RC6 update

i had a RB 951-2n running ros 6.0rc5 and last night upgraded it to RC6. (all of this to address the nonstop wireless issues with this very buggy RB series). the led lights come on, as well as the Ethernet port indicator if i plug in a Ethernet cable. however i cant access or see the RB in anyway af...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

Once you netinstall it switch to port 2-5 then use winbox(via the mac) to configure it. When you set the IP via netinstall it sets that IP on port 1 which normally has all of the services firewalled. Thanks for the suggestion, but what ultimately got it back and operational for me is this: After tr...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

Sometimes it may help to watch an actual clock with seconds indicator rather than counting. Humans are notoriously bad timepieces. Our time sense is subjective and variable. We get impatient... :-) Does anyone know if the router will exit netinstall mode if you hold the button too long? It does not...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

Push the button not before powering, but some half-second after powering. Keep the button 20 sec, then release. See if it works then. Use only v6rc7 files (netinstall and NPK) Hi Normis, After changing cables, changing machines and playing around with various delays before pressing the reset button...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

This is slightly off topic.... however I do agree that it is sometimes nearly impossible to put these devices into netinstall mode. I had an incomplete upgrade on a 751 and took me several hours to get it working. I tried with switch, direct connection, cross cable, straight cable, pushing button b...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

Try netinstalling it with v6 netinstall and v6 packages.
Still no success, Normis.

Used v5.17 NetInstaller, then v5.22, then v6.0rc7. Same behavior.

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

Did you plug the Ethernet from PC to 951 directly? Did you plug it into the first ethernet port of the 951? Did you disable any antivirus/firewall programs on your PC? Yes, Normis, as noted in my two posts above, the PC is directly connected to the RB951. It is connected to ethernet port 1 (and I a...

Re: My RB951-2n is non-functional

To trigger Netinstall mode, you must push the small reset button when device is turned off, then plug in the power cable while keeping the button pushed, wait for 20 seconds and release. Only then it will find the Netinstall server. Yes, I have pushed the reset button with a paperclip, screwdriver,...

My RB951-2n is non-functional

Hello, I had a mostly functional[1] RB951-2n that was running firmware 5.20 since that release came out. I downloaded v6.0rc6 about two weeks ago, and decided to upgrade today. The upgrade went well, and after several reboots (1 to enable IPv6, 1 to upgrade the boot loader), I decided to add a parti...

RB951-2n WiFi is flaky

I was having weird problems with the WIFI connection on my RB951-2n wireless router on the base firmware and RouterOS. I read the problems people were having with WiFi on the RB751 and RB951, and I upgraded my firmware and OS to 2.41 and 5.20 respectively. I also recreated the config from scratch an...
