Re: v6.4 released

It would be great if they always had a public stable version, and a public beta version. A LOT more people would test the beta version... and it wouldn't be such a big deal if there were problems like this because you could talk about them on the forum. Then, after a certain amount of time and stab...

Re: Static DHCP Lease question

....................... but can I assign addresses to these static leases that are not in the regular DHCP pool?
Yes
Thank you!

That was what I was hoping to read.

The wiki/manual wasn't as clear as I'd like regarding this.

Cheers,
Jon

Static DHCP Lease question

I understand how "static" DHCP works when using MAC address to filter the address, but can I assign addresses to these static leases that are not in the regular DHCP pool? If I need to define a pool of separate addresses, is there a way I prevent the DHCP server from assigning addresses from this se...

Re: 2 routers at my core

Are you wanting to run a provider to each router or both providers to both routers? A provider to each router I suppose is the only way since I'm pretty sure they each will only give me a single circuit. If you setup the routers with VRRP (aka failover), you can place a switch (can be a single swit...

Re: New to ROS, need help with port mapping/static IPs

OK - the slave status doesn't show in print detail for some reason... Could you confirm the symptoms: General LAN clients have full internet access? Which public IP do they present on an IP checking site? For the servers, are they able to access internet - i.e. does web browser work? I scanned thro...

Re: New to ROS, need help with port mapping/static IPs

Are you using Ether ports 3-5 on the RouterBoard? They don't seem to be slaved to Ether 2.
I'm not using 3-5 typically, but ports 2-5 appear to act as one group of ports as I plugged into the box on ports 2, 4 & 5 and all worked fine (I got my IP assigned and was able to work on the ROS config.

Re: New to ROS, need help with port mapping/static IPs

Do you really have no forwarding chain filters or did you just miss them out of the upload? I haven't defined any forwarding chains. The only ones present are the default ones. /ip firewall filter add action=accept chain=input comment="default configuration" disabled=no \ protocol=icmp add action=a...

Re: Partial export / import of config

Except that grep does not exist in routeros. What would a command to perform something similar to grep on a file look like in routeros? Grep, as far as I know, does not exist in ROS, but once you download the file, you can grep it locally, modifying it to your specification for the new device impor...

Re: Partial export / import of config

I guess the lack of replies to this thread is because it's not possible to filter on export. What about textfile editing? Is it possible to make a script that extracts only some of the lines from the export file into a new file that can be used for import? What I need is something similar to cat ex...

New to ROS, need help with port mapping/static IPs

I'm new to ROS. I've read the documentation, looked over the wiki, read through the forum posts. I've previously configured a number other routers (Netopia & Ecessa, among others) over the years and have a decent understanding of what needs to be done. I'm trying to open specific ports for services ...

Re: Hairpin NAT via Winbox

FYI, I figured this out.

I used three rules to do it and a port range (excluding 8291), to keep winbox working.

I love these routers. This is a fun learning experience.
Chris,

Can you share what you setup?

Thanks.

Cheers,
Jon
