Re: openvpn server + radius client

Enable OpenVPN server and test it without Radius just for now to see if it works and suits your needs, Mikrotik implementation does not support all features of ovpn. Then make sure the Radius service is configured correctly, enable "Use radius" in the PPP Secrets tab, create a profile for ...

Re: GPON support

The ONT that Mikrotik has now is just for the client side. This would probably warrant the creation of new OLT hardware because i don't think you can fit the whole PON provider side into a SFP module just yet, everybody would be deploying passive networks if it were that simple. In short, you would ...

Yes try that, however not to disturb service first monitor how the script behaves and if it yields results then implement it.

Re: Block Port 25 or not ?

An option is writing a script that pulls IP's off a PBL and updates your block list, later you can inform the user that he might be infected with a virus and limit his service until he takes action, some ISP's do this, not the best option since PBL tend to put the whole subnet in rather than a speci...

Re: Hardware suggestions for home use

Hi,

If you need wireless performance - http://routerboard.com/RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT have a few of these deployed, works like a charm.
If you need ports then you are not getting away from the RB2011. Hopefully 3011 with wireless comes out, we all want those 2 cores don't we ? :)

Re: Issue with bonding 802.3ad

As we outlined here http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=99799 CRS does not support LACP on the switch chips only on the CPU so you are better off not using it. As for the speed if there is a single stream of traffic going through the 802.3ad bonded link, like a single file transfer it ...

Re: 802.3ad Bond without using a bridge

I would assume XOR still needs to be added to a CPU controlled bridge to work correctly?
Only on the other end, not on the CRS.

Re: 802.3ad Bond without using a bridge

Its not that its a poor choice its that the device is intended to be used as a switch. The router CPU is there just for management and the odd router feature that you might need. Just that it makes it hard to use in a good production environment due to the lack of at this point standard managed swit...

Re: 802.3ad Bond without using a bridge

As stated in the Wiki: " IEEE802.3ad and IEEE802.1ax compatible Link Aggregation Control Protocol is not supported yet". Hopefully we get that in the near future. You can try balance-xor between Mikrotik devices I remember I did it once. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:CRS_examples#Tr...

I wish I could find a simple (but powerful) gigabit router that has a simple 1x WAN and 1x LAN.  But nothing like that exists. Every Cisco router ever made ? :) I have personally upgraded to a RB850Gx2 from a RB2011, i was going to go for a 3011, but after reading some posts around id say hold off ...

Is it spitting a lot of log entries when the cpu is at 100% ?
Not really sure what the management process falls under.

Try setting data rates on both ends to the same value (eg. 100 or 1gbit) and see if it helps (disable auto negotiation)

Re: New RB3011UiAS-RM - not impressed with throughput...

The RB3011 is powered by a ARM cpu, which is a new thing for Mikrotik.
It is probably not fully utilized by RouterOS as of yet, being that hardware acceleration is not supported for IPsec yet.

Re: CPU usage peaks to 100% (1100AH) router

It could be a faulty cable, or a mismatch between data rates.

Check this: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=81923

If that doesn't help post your Tools -> Profile
And take a look at interface statistics to see if you are maybe having a broadcast storm (A lot of packets).

Re: Best way to create encrypted tunnel on CCR1009?

If it is just 1 tunnel it wont impact performance on a CCR1009 so you can use any method you prefer. The more you "stack" the tunnels the more overhead you create in terms of MTU and CPU usage, going for the simplest option is usually the best way. Also i believe the 1009 has hardware acce...

From what ive read about 10gb networking is that it is quite tricky to get it running at the right speed.
I would suggest tinkering with frame sizes and other settings on the server NIC's.

Still got problems with *) pptp - fixed "encryption got out of sync" problem;
On CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ v6.30

User can stay connected for a very long time, but when you start pushing traffic the tunnel dies within a few minutes.

Re: Question by DHCP. How to give different address spaces for different interfaces.

You have 2 DHCP servers on 1 bridge which will conflict, remove FREE_WIFI from bridge1.
Then if you need a separate DHCP for the wifi create a bridge for the virtual AP and set the interface on the DHCP server to the new bridge.

Weird transmit issues

Hello, So after logging in to my VPN one day i noticed that my 2011 router was at 100% load, after pulling up interfaces i saw that ether1 (my WAN) is transmitting at more than 10mbps and a lot of packets, all the other ports are more less idle. It says 2mbps now, but its usually over 10. I pulled u...

Well ive managed something with firewall mangle, but only one ip works at a given time. Does this work for one ISP or does it have to be 2 different ISP's ? Can't help you with the connection, having problems myself.
If you want to update just drag&drop the update file into the files menu on winbox and restart the router.
