Re: Hardware recommendation to network a 9 Flat building for common www access plus intercom (and surveillance)

Hi i see no one has replied and ive planned this before. First if you plan to have any sort of phone or intercom system, its a question of IP or analog. For analog you need a PABX (you can get cheap chinese ones), as long as power is supplied by them, wiring is basically CAT 3. you then wire this to...

with mikrotik, routers that have IPSEC acceleration are faster than pptp, even with encryption. I suggest the best ARM (currently ARM 64) at the highest clock. Or you can use a recent x86 based PC with relevant instruction sets.

I've had a similar issue you had in that the CCR goes into a boot loop. You may want to shut it down for a while and than turn it back on and look at system -> health and look at the voltage. If the voltage keeps dropping this is a PSU issue and a good chance to do some modding for better thermals. ...

Forcing a higher setting can cause problems. Since you're using ADSL your router isnt directly connected to the ATM lines so you cannot use 1500MTU. In PPP some bits are required as overhead as a PPP header so your MTU will decrease. Think of it this way You have the link connected at layer 1 with s...

Re: L2MTU to provide 1500 MTU through PPPoE

why not leave the L2 MTU on default and increase the MTU to max? the max MTU is 65535 but the L2 max is about 12000 depending on your network. I usually leave L2 MTU to 1500 and leave the MTU to 65535. This reduces CPU load for large transfers. When doing speed test across bridges and routes/VPN, ha...

Re: RouterOS did not work with 192.168/16 subnet after DDoS

your router probably doesnt have ECC. Aside from that try rebooting. You should make a firewall rule that tarpits TCP and drops the rest on the input I have 3 networks on my CCR and i managed to make a working firewall rule that handles all attacks well even with the services i run on the CCR and th...

Re: CCR experience?

Bridging works fine entirely and is a bit funny on how many different things you can attach to it. VPN needs a lot of work to get working fast and stable. Latency from bridging one physical port to another is minimal and really good but bridge does use CPU and is subject to random spikes. Because my...

Re: CCR experience?

The CCR performs poorly with virtual networks but performs very fast on physical networks. Ping times significantly increase using virtual networks (internal bridge routing, VPN, etc) while physical routing remains really fast. Even VPN is unstable at full loads and disconnects every few minutes whe...
