Re: OpenVPN Server providing IPv6 to clients

I am trying the same; did you ever succeed in setting up your OpenVPN server on RouterOS to provide IPv6 to clients? Unfortunately not. I opened a support ticket, but obviously Mikrotik does not provide this kind of support. But I am still puzzled if this might simply be broken or got broken over t...

OpenVPN Server providing IPv6 to clients

I am a little confused about the proper combination of the various config parameters to provide IPv6 for OpenVPN clients. I run two CCR2216-1G-12XS-2XQ with RouterOS 7.12.1 (will update to 7.14 soon). I already have a well working IPv4 setup which I only wanted to extend to IPv6. The routers have IP...

Re: How to use fe80::1 (IPv6 Link-Local) via VRRP to provide redundant default GW?

I think you should use ULA (Unique Local Address) for this... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unique_local_address No, they serve a different purpose. ULAs are routable addresses and thus cannot be the same for multiple segments, like link-locals can. I have plenty global unicast addresses. But I exp...

How to use fe80::1 (IPv6 Link-Local) via VRRP to provide redundant default GW?

It's somewhat common to use fe80::1 as link-local address to provide default gateway functionality to a segment. So I wanted to configure this on a routers interface as (an additional) link-local address. Apparently this does not work on Mikrotik / RouterOS (7.13): 1) Neither as native link-local ad...

BGP IPv6 - How to announce a /32 or /29 block if only some /64 are in the routing table? [SOLVED]

I am have multiple BGP upstreams to which I'd like to announce our IPv6 BGP network(s), the whole /29 or maybe a few /32s. I added the prefix to an IPV6 address-list bgp-networks , just like I did for IPv4 and used that for the BGP connection: 1 name="upstream--v6" remote.address=REDACTED:...

How to stop advertising IPv6 prefixes internally in case e.g. the upstream is gone (check-gateway)

I am wondering what the most elegant approach is to disable the IPv6 prefix advertising on a LAN interface in case the upstream is gone and the default gateway is unreachable. For routes, e.g. the default route in this case, there is check-gateway which can be used to determine if the next hop can s...

Using DHCP option 97 (UUID) value for static DHCP leases? Via generic matcher?

I would like, instead of a MAC address, use the DHCP option 97 (https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc4578.html#section-2.3) to configure out static leases. This UUID MUST be sent by every PXE DHCP client and promises to make the lease independent from the interface mac address by using a single UUID fo...
