Re: IP/Cloud doesn't perform auto-update

Well yes, "ip cloud" offers basic features. Currently it does not offer more advanced stuff like custom names, detection of gateway IP changes etc. Okay, thanks for the reply. Can I ask you guys to please update docs to reflect this stance? I believe others can get confused as well, due t...

Re: IP/Cloud doesn't perform auto-update

Anyhow, my question still stands. Any ideas as to why Cloud isn't auto-updating as advertised? Because the WAN address of your router isn't changing. It's staying the same, 192.168.0.10 . Reconfigure your cable modem to do WAN bypass and operate as a modem only not a combination modem/router. I am ...

Re: IP/Cloud doesn't perform auto-update

The warning but your local IP was 192.168.0.10 indicates your router isn't obtaining a route-able internet address on it's WAN port. i.e. You router is behind another router with the WAN address of 188.2.xx.xx . jebz , oh, that's right, I forgot about my local network configuration. 192.168.0.10 is...

IP/Cloud doesn't perform auto-update

I have enabled IP > Cloud, and I expected it would auto-update given dns-name when my public IP address changes, based on reading relevant documentation . Quote: ddns-enabled (yes | no) If set to "yes" then router will send an encrypted message to the MikroTik cloud server. Server will the...

Re: Four APs vs two APs over bridge

It turns out that from time to time, something happens with bridge on all APs and it becomes unreachable for a moment. When that happens, all wifi clients are still connected to AP, but they loose connectivity to network. After bridge returns, renew their DHCP leases. If winbox connection happens to...

Re: Four APs vs two APs over bridge

@0ldman: Right. I've tried bridge over ch13 and ch11, but it doesn't yield satisfactory results. Bridge starts failing as soon as some traffic is generated through AP2, and by some traffic I mean total of 1-2 Mbps (it peaks to 5 Mbps if I recall correctly). Ping goes on fine, 3-4ms for about 10-20 s...

Re: Four APs vs two APs over bridge

Sadly, I don't have 5GHz equipment. I was thinking of operating bridge on channel 13, as apparently every wireless device comes uses channels 1-11 (unless configured otherwise). But then, I'm thinking if channels 1 and 6 could be used for AP1 and AP2..?

Four APs vs two APs over bridge

I have 4 RB951-2n devices, all running ROS 5.24. Area I want to cover is an office in an apartment building. There are many APs (both weak and strong) in the building, using various channels, and I suspect they are mostly set to "auto" channel (so the term "least used frequency" ...

Re: WDS Mesh performing poorly

If you are using wireless encryption we suggest to contact support@mikrotik.com for a test release of v5.24rc1 which contains a fix for AES encryption speed. After upgrade please reset wireless configuration and reconfigure wireless interface. Thanks, I'll try it out. By the way, how is this fix su...

Re: WDS Mesh performing poorly

You don't need one connect list entry for each mac address, So you can replace all with one entry without any specific mac address for all wds.
How would that work? In other words, how would APs know which other APs to connect to?

How would that one entry look like?

WDS Mesh performing poorly

Hi all! My first post here! The problems are that packets are dropped suddenly, sometimes in a succession. Round trip times vary widely (5ms-150ms) and are quite erratic. Occasionally, an AP becomes unreachable via network, but at the same time it is visible to other devices in their registration t...
