Re: CCR1009-8G-1S Throughput Speed

I made the change and am using port 8 for wan and port 2 for lan and am getting close to 1g speed now.

Thanks for all the help.

Why does MikroTik not make more routers with at least two 2.5 ports? My guess is they will come out with 10g ports and not waste time with anything less.

Re: hEX (RB750Gr3) Optimal Connections

It looks like then it makes most sense to put the wan on ports 2 or 4, and the lan on ports 1, 3 or 5 so you can bridge 1, 3 and 5 if you want. This still leaves room for a backup wan on port 4, and seems like the most efficient way to go.

Does this sound correct?

Either I or you don't know how this works. The "name" part has nothing to do with the hostname. Only the IP address can accept the hostname, and it changes it to an IP address.

Re: Static DNS Route with Dynamic Address

I'm not sure what you are talking about. The address is dynamic- it changes. It doesn't not allow you to enter the dynamic address.. well, it does, but it changes it to an actual IP address once you enter it. If the address changes a week later, it would have no way to knowing.

Static DNS Route with Dynamic Address

I am trying to set a static dns route. When entering the address, it will take a name rather than an IP address, but then it changes the name to an IP address. The issue is our server has a dynamic IP address like xxx.abc.com. Is there a way to enter a name rather than an IP address?

Thanks.

Re: Just got my new CCR1009-7G-1C-PC

Ok, I get what you are saying. That makes sense. We rarely use more than 2 gigabit switches in the rack. One usually for lan devices, and one for ip video distribution. How about if we connect the router directly to the lan switch, and then connect the video distribution switch to a port on the lan ...

I notice that some things are different. The first port is now named combo1. I normally set it up so that port 1 is the wan1, port 2 is the wan2, and ports 3 & 4 are the lans feeding 2 switches. There is no longer an option to slave port 4 to port 3. How is this now done? Thanks.

If you look at the speed specs for the hex router, it seems like when you are using fast track your firewall rules and ignored. Is that the case? If you have 25 rules, but you are using fast track, what would be the true wan-lan speeds? It's confusing. Thanks. Screen Shot 2017-03-09 at 11.50.21 AM.p...

There are not 2 routers...

There is one router with the lan set to 192.168.47.0/24.

The device just has a static ip of 192.168.0.100. It did not get it's address from a router.
