Re: Create new account in UserManager based on DHCP lease

Have a look at this Theoretically you'd just need to setup a script that checks the DHCP table (or host table which might be easier) Have it look at the MAC addresses there and anything that's not in the active table of the hotspot run that user add command on it /too user-manager user add username=...

Change in scripting syntax from v5.25 to v6.2

Hi everyone, Just wondering if there's a reason this script has stopped working in version 6? It appears to be bugging out on the not operator. And even if I take that out it doesn't want to work with the DHCP flag. It's just meant to pull the mac address of all hotspot hosts who aren't authenticate...

Not operator and DHCP flag not working on v6.2

Hi Everyone, I use the below code to get a list of all hosts that are connected to our wireless but not authorized. :global counter :foreach counter in=[/ip hotspot host find !authorized && DHCP || dynamic ] do={:put [/ip hotspot host get $counter mac-address]} It works fine on everything up to v5.2...

Re: Hotspot trial limit by usage not time

If you have a look at the standard login.html file that is on a Mikrotik with an active hotspot you will see this line of code: <a href="$(link-login-only)?dst=$(link-orig-esc)&username=T-$(mac-esc)"> You have this link on a button, word, picture, whatever you want. This tells the Mikrotik to log th...

Re: Hotspot trial limit by usage not time

The second script on that page allows you to clear the users.
Just place it into a script on your device (system -> scripts) and then set up a scheduler entry (system -> scheduler) to run that script every 24hrs (or whatever interval you like)

Re: Hotspot trial limit by usage not time

Hi,

Have a look at the scrip here - http://www.mikrotik-routeros.com/2012/1 ... pot-users/

We've used it in a number of locations and found it works well, just read the comments about the multiplication of the data and you'll be fine.

Re: streaming video from hotspot

I'm also having the same issue. My other thread hasn't turned up any results either.
It works fine if it's streamed from our web server or youtube but not if the mp4 is located on the Mikrotik itself.
But if it plays fine from a web server I can't figure out why it wouldn't work from a Mikrotik.

Re: Is there a way to automatically send resource graphs?

Thanks for that. It looks like exactly what I was after.
Works great, just had to alter a rule that wasn't allowing un-authenticated devices to access port 80.

Is there a way to automatically send resource graphs?

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if it's possible to get a device to email a copy of the resource graphs at a set time each day?

Re: Issues streaming videos to iOS devices

Yeah I found that, but I discovered that by placing apple.com in the walled garden I could bypass the iOS captive portal helper which allowed them to get to the login page in safari or chrome.
Unfortunately the video still doesn't play when streamed straight from the mikrotik in either of those.

Issues streaming videos to iOS devices

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get an advertising video (stored locally on the Mikrotik) to play which then redirects users to our log in page, using a html5 video tag. This all works fine on Android and desktops, laptops etc. Where I start to run into trouble is with iOS devices. I know the video is in...

Storage ideas for routerboards

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if you could post some ideas or the way you store your boards.
At the moment our method is a little haphazard, and I figure there has to be a better way than just stacking them in a box.

Thanks,
Chris

4.0 Beta 3 Update Fails

Hi Everyone, I just tried installing The Due 4.0 Beta 3 for the first time, but every time I launch it or try to connect to our server it asks if I want to update to version 3.6. If I click no, it will not connect. If I click yes, it downloads the files, dude.exe and a bunch of dll's but then it com...

Re: Selecting which WLAN card to use - Band Steering

All the threads I've found saying this can't be done on a Mikrotik device are a year or so old.
Anyone word on whether they can do this yet?

We're looking into a slightly clunky script to try and do this but an integrated solution would be nice if it existed.

Re: Max connection speed to RB951-2n

Thanks guys - we'd checked over routerboard.com but didn't think the details would be in the broucher link :/

We just a couple of the new 951G's so we'll have a go with them.

Max connection speed to RB951-2n

This might be a stupid question but it's got me stumped. We've got a 951 setup (screenshot attached) and found that our desktops connect at 150mbps. We've got another AP, an engenius EAP300, with the settings as closely replicated as we can and the desktops connect at 300Mbps. From what we understan...

Selecting which WLAN card to use - Band Steering

Is there a way to set up an AP so that when a client connects to it it selects the best WLAN card for it to use? For example if we have an RB433 setup with two WLAN cards, one on 2.4GHz the other on 5Ghz, both with the same SSID. Is there a way for the RB to detect if something like an iPhone 5 (or ...

Re: Youtube Videos in Hotspot HTML

Finally figured it out. You mentioned it one of your earlier posts about adding apple.com to the walled garden. I wasn't quite sure how that would help until I read this http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=62460 Disables that annoying pop up when connecting to the network and the video pla...

Re: Youtube Videos in Hotspot HTML

So I've now tried changing it from an embedded youtube video to a HTML5 compliant video and I've run into the same problem. I'm using the bellow code: <div id="wrapper" align="centre" valign="middle"> <video width="560" height="315" controls preload autoplay> <source src="vid/testad.mp4" type="video...

Re: Youtube Videos in Hotspot HTML

It's not the video playing that's the problem exactly. I got it to play on everything except apple devices by doing what you suggested and adding it to the walled garden. When apple devices connect to the hotspot the login screen displays automatically in pop up window, unlike other devices where on...

Re: Youtube Videos in Hotspot HTML

It's not that it's trying to access an apple site, it's just apple devices like iphones don't display the video correctly and I was wondering if there was a way to stop the pop up appearing automatically so the user would have to open their browser to access the hotspot html pages.

Youtube Videos in Hotspot HTML

Hi everyone, I'm trying to get a video to play on the hotspot landing page before redirecting to the log in page. I've got the redirect working and the video plays fine on desktops and android but I've run into a bit of a problem with apple devices. When you connect to the network the login.html fil...
