Same on two RB3011. It can't send more than 500ma for more than about a second out of ether10 before it pops for good. Your POE out is dead, for good.

Bad idea. -1 for sure. Just use printer sharing from a desktop or hook the USB cable up to your laptop (you're going to be near the printer to pick up the printed pages that come out anyway). ROS and RB's have a hard enough time doing routing... Why complicate and/or drag down your router with print...

The proxy eats up much more CPU compared to using UPNP. I mean the 951G has enough trouble with a simple ruleset keeping up with a 75/15 cable connection, I'd bet I wouldn't see more than 30% of my download capability with a socket proxy.

Client devices tend to have a DNS cache... Be sure in the future to clear the MikroTik's cache as well as the computer you're running the test on.

I've had flapping between an SXT G-2HnD and a RB951G-2HnD, but only above 5Mbps load. Had to force the interface to 100/full on BOTH ends to get it to stop, could not get a stable 1G/full connection. Was using about 95 feet of CAT6 between them with the POE adapter/injector right next to the RB951G....

Make sure proxy-arp is enabled on the Mikrotik LAN ports or bridge. For example I had ports 2-5 bridged on my RB951G and I enabled proxy-arp on the bridge, problem solved.

I use L2TP over IPSec with the built-in client myself.

Also have PPTP setup as a fallback option to try if the remote network won't cooperate with that. (but PPTP should be considered an unsecured connection these days)

Putting some kind of RF noise suppression on the power pairs near the devices (ferrite beads) as I don't know if MikroTik would have put noise suppression on the power lines inside their devices and it may be stray RF noise that is causing some of your headaches. Your device will only draw as much current (amps) as it needs. So hooking up a router that draws 1A to a 2.6A power supply won't hurt anything as long as the voltage is in spec and the polarity of the connector is correct, and it is according to the box. You should look into pfSense. Even then unless each user is using different IP addresses its almost impossible at the router level.
