Re: Feature request: BGP dampening

Do consider ; 4.0 Recommendation This Routing Working Group document proposes that with the current implementations of BGP flap damping, the application of flap damping in ISP networks is NOT recommended. The recommendations given in ripe-229 and previous documents [2] are considered obsolete hencef...

Re: RouterOS v7.0 beta1 - when?

we are now at 4.14.xx how long we will see Kernel 4? Linux Kernel 5.0 Will be Coming in the Summer of 2018 Mikrotik is 4-5years behind development! RHEL 7.4 uses kernel 3.10.0-693. How many years are they behind development? :) And yet, they are still able to deliver a working stateful DHCPv6 serve...

Re: High latency on IPv6

Hi there, Thanks for the reply. These boxes are intended to be for packets in packets out with a bit of BGP/OSPF. There is no IPv6 firewall rules at all. What I have noticed is an increase in latency corresponds with increased resource utilisation and table sizes ; 3K IPv6 routes : sent=10 received=...

Gather result via API where X in dst-address

Hi All, Is there a way to return data that is gathered with "in" ? For example ; I have no problem with returning data where dst-address is value /ip route print where dst-address ="23.246.28.0/24" Using something like : $api->query('/ip/route/print', { '.proplist' => '.id,gateway' }, { 'dst-address...

High latency on IPv6

Hi all, I am seeing latency of ~10ms for IPv6 traffic when IPv4 is showing <1ms Is this type of latency expected for IPv6 in RouterOS ? Simple topology ROS1 <-> ROS2 <-> INTERNET/PEERING ROS1 going to internet via next hop ROS2 0.2ms for Ipv4 and 12.2ms for IPv6 ? ===================================...

mark connection where protocol icmp matches udp ?

Greetings all, Hoping someone can point out whatever noob error I am making here. Everything seemed to be going well with my mangle/queue-tree setup until I hit ICMP. I have stripped down my setup to a basic mangle rule for simple analysis /ip firewall mangle add action=mark-connection chain=prerout...

Re: Ros 6.18 some packets bypassing NAT

Thank you for the clarification on the NAT order of operation in RouterOS. I am coming from a Cisco ASA/FW world so some of these concepts are rather different for me and it's been a bit of a challenge getting my head around it. The upstream Cisco router will drop the packet anyway as the source IP ...

Re: Ros 6.18 some packets bypassing NAT

Hi Mikrotik,
Thank you for your reply.
We have a few hundred units in the field so would prefer not to have to amend firewall rules on every one if possible.
Is this a known issue?
Is there a version of RouterOS you can recommend at present which is unaffected?
Kind regards,

Ros 6.18 some packets bypassing NAT

Hi there, I notice some odd behaviour when troubleshooting. It appears some internal IP are not being NAT'ed. Scenario is basic src NAT masquerade from LAN to WAN. /ip firewall nat add action=masquerade chain=srcnat comment="default configuration" out-interface=eth01-WAN src-address=10.74.4.0/23 to-...

Re: ROS6.6 goes to 100% CPU doing 1 stream TCP test at 1Kbps

this is how TCP bandwidth-test works. to test network use endpoints that are not your network infrastructure, just attached nodes to the path you want to test. Err. No. It doesn't. I'm quite familiar with a variety of test equipment from industry recognised iperf at the low cost end through to spir...

ROS6.6 goes to 100% CPU doing 1 stream TCP test at 1Kbps ?!?

Hi All, I have an RB750GL and I am doing a bandwidth test to a directly connected RB750GL on ether1. It seems regardless of what TCP settings I use, the CPU immediately on the "send" device goes to 100% from a baseline of 1% This occurs regardless of how many stream or bit rate is used, for testing ...

Re: Management VRFs & L2TP server (not)replying from correct

L2TP replaying with wrong IP is a known bug. Ticket#2013020866000414. "We are aware of this L2TP issue. It is reported to developers and will be fixed in the future according to priorities." Cool. How does one go about looking that(or any) bug up to see it's progress for example ? I did a quick goo...

Re: Problems with MPLS IPv4 VPN

That is very disappointing ! I used the MUM slideshows and Mikrotik Manual as my guide for doing this on RouterOS, aside from the fact the most recent version I can see is 3.17 or thereabouts, it all seems to work and in fact cites "no failures here" with pings going back and forward. There is no ca...

Management VRFs & L2TP server (not)replying from correct IP

Hi All, I have read the threads on these two subjects which I couldn't see a definitive answer for. I apologise in advance for merging the two issues into the same thread, there is a reason for doing so which will become clear. Coming from a Cisco/Juniper environment we can configure the device in s...

Re: Problems with MPLS IPv4 VPN

Hi All, I was about to make a post on this very issue. I am running 6.0rc14 on RB1200 and RB750 platforms. ( For some reason 6.0 candidate release crashes regularly, 6.0rc14 less so ) Having come from Cisco(15yrs+) and Juniper (2yrs+) to Mikrotik (6months+) I would have thought that establishing a b...
