Re: The Dude can't connect to RouterOS devices

To check as it wasn't clear - is the RouterOS device which you are attempting to connect to running the same firmware version as the RouterOS device which is running Dude?
All devices (mostly RBmAP2nD, some RBwsAP) are currently running 6.48.5 long term, same as the gateway (RB3011).

Would really like to know as well because having 20 CPE's on a sector in very noise environment and only able to get max 20mbps from the sector is a bit low in today's market.
That's very low. Sounds like you need to be looking for another frequency! What AP are you using?

Narrowing the scan-list on the CPE will reproduce what you are describing, on the AP it shouldn't have any effect whatsoever.
After a reboot we have noticed a much faster clients wireless registration when scan list it reduced, if it's set to Default or in the above example it will take longer.

Just focus on not having crappy stations. Bad signal = lower modulations = lower rates = lower overall AP throughput. One bad CPE at basic rate 6mbit will cripple your entire setup. The goal here is not to have bad signals. Try not to have lower than -65dbm when possible.

On paper its very doable. In practice to have anything usable at these distances you need good quality antennas, good calibration, good LOS and of course a good channel. Also forget about wider channels at the moment, see if you can find a good 20mhz channel and if everything I've mentioned above is...

Great until mAP number 2 fails and takes down 3,4,5. Good point and that's exactly what happened to us three times within 6 months. The map itself did not fail it kept running, it just wasn't powering up the next device anymore. Very strange. We replaced with R2 now, hopefully that's cured it.

There are Switch1 and Switch2.

Wan1 of Port1 on Switch 1, Bridge1 of Port2-5 through DHCP1 on Wan1
Wan2 of Port6 on Switch 2, Bridge2 of Port7-10 through DHCP2 on Wan2

Masquerade on each separate way.
Set ports 3-4-5 of each switch to use their respective switch's port 2 as master port.

Star topology is a network topology which consists of a central node, to which all other nodes are connected. Your network is not a star topology.

You can implement ospf for routing between sites. For L2 communication the easiest would be to use eoip but mpls/vpls would give you the best performance.

Re: trunks from mikrotik to switches

OK, I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do there but it seems very wrong. Do you have multiple physical ports plugged from the switch into the router? What is the switch? Your best option is going to be to do a bond interface, and then run the VLANs on top of that. LACP mode (802.3ad) is &qu...

Re: Antenna setup recommendations for increasing bandwidth

More powerful access points will not help. You'd better invest in good directional antennas. Example a groove with a good directional antenna Should I replace my access point [and 120 degree sector antenna] with say, six access points with directional 20 degree antennas? Of similar gain? Is this wh...

Antenna setup recommendations for increasing bandwidth

Most of our customers are located between 6-12km away from us. Our furthest away customers cannot sustain more than 1-2MBPS of TCP throughput. How can we improve our situation without changing location? We need advice on improving CAP setup and CPE setups. More details below: Our CAP setup is a RB41...

Re: RB44Ge

you'll be hard pressed. the card was created with the purpose of routerOS in mind. You would be better off getting a card from another vendor for your windows 7 machine Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread but I completely disagree with this last statement. I feel its only right for Mikrotik u...

Re: bonding multiple vpn tunnels to remote datacenter router

It would appear that the PEPLINK (well known wan bonding company) solution works by bonding PPTP VPN tunnels. According to their website: Peplink’s Site-to-Site VPN Bonding aggregates VPN traffic across multiple Internet links into one big pipe. PPTP VPN provides a secure remote access of the networ...
