At a loss: WLAN to WAN Fast, WLAN to LAN Slow, LAN to LAN Fast

I've been trying to nail down this issue for awhile now. I have a Cent OS file server hardwired to an 2011uias-2hnd I recently bought. I use a laptop on WIFI with Fedora on it to transfer files to this Centos Server. When I hard wire the laptop I get 10MBps. When I try and upload a file on WIFI I ge...

Wifi speed fast on WAN but slow on LAN

I've encountered a weird problem with my RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN. I can speed test 70Mbps on WAN but when transferring files between a local server connected via gigabit Ethernet and my laptop connected via wifi I'm not seeing more then 8-10Mbps. The problem resolves itself if I hard wire my laptop via E...

Monitor Traffic/Resolve IP Address to Hostnames

I've been looking for a way to do this for awhile and still haven't found a solid way to do so. Is there a way to either in real time or through a log, keep track of what websites which hosts are visiting? I know there are all sorts of ways in RouterOS you can view connections and there is the packe...

Re: Traffic priority question....I think

I really appreciate all the help so far, I'm sorry my understanding of queues is fairly limited. I'm interested in this lab thing you are talking about but am unsure of what you are referring to. I think it could really help my understanding. If you wouldn't mind could you provide a quick and dirty ...

Re: Traffic priority question....I think

I may have a misunderstanding of what you can and can't do with queues. I'll give a simplified example. If I have 50mbps available if no one is using any of it and the only host sending traffic is one from the guest network, ideally they would be able to use all 50mbps. However if while that host is...

Re: Traffic priority question....I think

Thanks for the reply So to clarify the max limit doesn't actually limit the speed of the traffic it just tells the router when to start prioritizing? Yea that was my plan to use the interfaces to separate the networks. I just needed to use packet marking for a few devices on the admin side that I wa...

Traffic priority question....I think

Quick question for you guys. I've been reading through the wiki a lot in the past week about queue's and all the stuff related to it and am just a little overwhelmed and wanted some quick advice on what the best way to accomplish what I'm trying to do is. I understand simple queue's, I have 2 networ...

Re: Wireless Speed Issue

It seems to have improved slightly. Initial tests show 20mbps down. But I just feel like with a 60mbps down connection and N band wireless I should be seeing more. To be honest I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be seeing for realistic speeds. I know in theory what N is supposed to be capable...

Re: Wireless Speed Issue

This is what my current version is. I assume it is very out of date? routerboard: yes model: 751U-2HnD serial-number: 2FF201261F15 current-firmware: 2.37 upgrade-firmware: 2.36 I'm not sure how to upgrade the firmware but I'm sure some googling will help. I will post my results after the upgrade. Ed...

Wireless Speed Issue

I'll try and keep it short and sweet but here is the deal. I have a multi access point network with a mikrotik router and I'm really having trouble with my why wireless is so slow. So to do a little trouble shooting I powered down all my access points and used the mikrotiks wifi card alone. I was st...

Re: Hotspot Guest Network

Thanks for the reply! I followed your directions and understand all but the following: 1. What NAT rules would be required to allow the different subnet to get out to the internet 2. What firewall rules do I need to keep packets from getting from one network to the other. Or basically from my Guest ...

Re: Hotspot Guest Network

Ah! I got that now, the hotspot simply creates the login page. What I want is a VLAN to separate the guests from the rest of the network. I've been trying my best to figure it out. But I seem to be hung up. Right now my router is setup basically in the default configuration with the "Bridge-Local", ...

Hotspot Guest Network

I just have a quick question and was wondering is someone can point me in the right direction. Here is what I have going on and here is what I want. I have 2 access point (upstairs/downstairs) and the mikrotik router with wireless enabled on the main floor. I want to use the downstairs access point ...
