Re: Help Please - QoS for VoIP over a WAN

QoS requires that it is configured end-to-end. everything on internet does not respect your QoS. If You really want QoS you should request an MPLS solution between the 2 locations from your ISP. Configuring QoS on your VPN can help a bit to manage the traffic between the 2 sites but once on the inte...

Re: HW suggestion: Router (2*WLAN, Gbit Ethernet)

I prefer the 493g from the above list. Because of the extra ports and mini pci you can use it for something else than just hotel visits.

Due to the materials I'd say no. If you want to provide free internet to the shoppers I'd say no on density as well. A survey will give you your answers.

Re: RB2011 stopped working last night...

The routes don't show up blue as bvandenbremt said.
That's good. A blue route is not reachable.
Black routes are reachable (or should be)

Re: RB2011 stopped working last night...

Meaning a route can sometimes show but 'cannot' be pinged. Gives a blue colour I think as well.

Check your routes. Sometimes find a dhcp-client to change routing tables. This might help.

Also recommend weatherproof access points. These kinds of place have a lot of condensation. Else you would need to replace them all the time.

Re: Multiple Network Firewall

I've got it mostly configured right now but for some reason I am able to ping 192.168.2.1
All traffic destined for the router's IP address(es) is handled by an input chain and not by the forward chain.

Could be something else though.
Post config if you want it to be checked.

Re: Port forwarding forwarding to router config not server

I'd make a firewall filter to log on port 80 with external IP and then one with internal IP and place them on top of the list.
Also you can use Torch on the interface holding your webserver to see where your traffic is getting.

Re: In Winbox or CLI does ! tickbox mean NOT EQUAL TO <> ?

Correct, in your example it means drop all traffic that wants to hit the router if it is not destined for 192.168.45.0/24

Please note that this rule will only block traffic to the router. Not traffic going through the router.

Re: IP telephony

Curious as well here as to what feature you are looking for.

You can configure vlans, QoS and allow only necessary traffic for uc using the firewall.

Only downside i see right now is that there is no CRS with 802.3af/at yet. Right now I still use a l2 managed poe switch for that.

in addition stacking gets higher speeds than just trunking or Link Aggregation.

But as said by Etz: No stacking possible (yet...)

You can use vlans on the sfp interface as well to trunk to your next switch. I would advise you to take the version with 2 sfp ports however. For future proofing

Re: DHCP Containment

Yes you read it correctly. The ports are slaved to a master port. The Cable Modem from the ISP is giving out public IP-addresses via DHCP My ether1(Master) I set up as a DHCP-Client and is able to get a public IP-address, is reachable from the outside and updates DynDNS using the script My ether2 an...

Re: DHCP Containment

found the answer myself :

1 port can be DHCP-client
and be the master for other ports as long as they are on the same switchboard.

DHCP travels through the switch ports.
and yet i can use eth1 as my gateway port and use it for routing.

DHCP Containment

Hi all, very first post here and it's a question whether it's doable or not. Scenario: I'm connected to my ISP via a cable modem providing me 1 fastethernet port. If i just place a simple switch behind this port I can get up to 4 dynamic public IP addresses for my computers/stuff by DHCP from the ca...
