Questions regarding the Firewall Configuration Guide

Good day! I have been using default configuration rules. But after reading the following help and Wiki guides decided to configure the firewall rules more securely. https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=28606504 https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/Building+Your+First+Fir...

Re: WiFi on Android phones dropping

I have had the same problem. I think it solved now – may need to retest. I have an AP with two IAPs: wlan1 – 2.4 GHz and wlan2 – 5 GHz. My mistake was that I set transmit power for both radios to be equal. That caused software logic of android phone to be jumping between radios where is the signal s...

Traffic counter script with an output to the TXT file on internal flash

I would like to to collect an output of the following commands and put it one file (like Traffic.txt) in a suitable format. An appropriate script is required that will be running on a schedule once a day. [admin@MikroTik] > :put [/interface get [find name=ether1] rx-byte ]] 6711150062 [admin@MikroTi...

Re: Wifi keeps mobile device awake? [keepalive packets]

The problem here because of the 'group-key-update' value - this interval is too short. 1 day will be better to have than 1 hour as it is now. It seems that MikroTik Team didn't pay attention to my previous post. In general WMM is working fine as expected.

Re: cacti: Mikrotik RouterOS Statistics (Update 11/19/2013)

josu see all my posts above. As I had wrote there is no way to configure interfaces bandwidth collecting via SNMP on MikroTik RB951 at least. If you will find the way you will be a pioneer (let me know how).

Re: cacti: Mikrotik RouterOS Statistics (Update 11/19/2013)

I had removed Cacti from the server because my Mikrotik device doesn't support SNMP polling for the desired goal. I surfed the www and didn't find the same what I need.

Re: cacti: Mikrotik RouterOS Statistics (Update 11/19/2013)

Hello,

Could you please help me to configure Cacti to get data via SNMP from the router - I need to see the WAN bandwidth utilization? Now I can see the CPU load only and can't create a new graph for traffic.

Re: Wifi keeps mobile device awake? [keepalive packets]

I believe that if Mikrotik will implement WMM power saving in the future versions of code it will not affect your battery power drain because anyway your mobile devises are goin into power save mode automatically when the screen is switched off. The problem here is that all traffic between the mobil...

Re: Wifi keeps mobile device awake? [keepalive packets]

I think that due to Mikrotik supports only legacy power-saving and WMM power saving is not yet supported is the reason why too much new mobiles devices based on Android or iOS operating systems are losing WiFi connection. I made a following test with the mobile phone based on Android OS. Start ping ...

Re: Packetshaper and QoS on a Mikrotik RouterBOARD with SW v

Let's simplify my requirements. At this moment I would like just to decrease traffic usage by torrent client when users are using Internet. According to the config bellow I can mark torrent's packets in the Mangle rules correctly (see screenshot below). But when the torrent client is active there is...

Re: Using RouterOS to prioritize (Qos) traffic for a Class C

No QoS config provided by TecnoNet is not working because all traffic marked as 'other' including http and etc. So the attached config file is wrong.

Re: Using RouterOS to prioritize (Qos) traffic for a Class C

TecnoNet, Thank you for a good QoS config script. It seems that it's working fine except P2P. In our days the most of P2P clients are using encryption and that is the reason why a simple indicated P2P option is not working in a Mikrotik ROS. I think that to make this QoS config script working with t...

How to configure WiFi on a RB951G-2HnD with SW v6.5?

I have a configured and working fine router RB951G-2HnD with the additional access point (AP) connected. Now I need to configure internal AP in router with different SSID. So I need to have a second standalone AP. I had successfully configured wlan1 interface. I can see the authenticated clients but...

Re: PPPoE connection dropping

Now I'm sure on 99% that connection is dropping on the ISP side. Because radius_default_session_timeout by default is 86400 seconds. I believe that it wouldn't be changed because of if the billing period is over then the session will not be interrupted. And I will be able to use Internet with the $0...

QoS on a Mikrotik RouterBOARD with ROS v6?

Good day, I had read a lot of documentation on the official website: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:TOC and spend a lot of time in my findings but I still haven't idea how to implement my idea in life. I have attached the Network diagram and QoS algorithm how I wish to configure my router. Cou...

It is very interesting issue! Because I have exactly the same problem with often ISP disconnects on my side but using PPPoE.

Support Team could you advice how to make 'Always On' for the WAN link. At this moment it seems that it work like 'On Demand'.

Another one point. I think that your bootloader may have the incorrect version for the installed firmware and needs to be upgraded also. More information: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/RouterBOA ... er_upgrade

Re: PPPoE reconnect delay

I think that keepalive-timeout (time; Default: "10") should care about this. But I'm not sure and asked a question. Description: Defines the time period (in seconds) after which the router is starting to send keepalive packets every second. If no traffic and no keepalive responses came for...

What does keepalive-timeout (time; Default: "10") means? Description: Defines the time period (in seconds) after which the router is starting to send keepalive packets every second. If no traffic and no keepalive responses came for that period of time (i.e. 2 * keepalive-timeout), not resp...

Re: pppoe-client and nat rule problem

Hi Suntan,

You need to change your NAT rule this way:
/ip firewall nat
remove 0
add action=masquerade chain=srcnat out-interface=pppoe-out1 src-address=192.168.0.0/27 to-addresses=0.0.0.0
But don't forget to modify your src-address value.

Re: New RB951G-2HnD bricked?

You may try to use port 3. If it's will be the same then ask Mikrotik Support person if it's possible to recover somehow after the incorrect flashing during the upgrade. Probably you will be needed to send your box to they service center.

Re: New RB951G-2HnD bricked?

I believe that your router board is not dead after the upgrade. You may try to disable a firewall on your PC and try again to use a Winbox. If it does not help then you may try to restore a factory default settings. In that case you will be needed to insert a pin into the 'reset' hole then connect a...

Greetings, I had purchased my first MikroTik Routerboard and made upgrade it to RouterOS v. 6.4. Yesterday I configured it first time.
