Recently grabbed a CRS328-24P-4S+RM switch and am have been playing around with it on the swOS side of things. As I understand it, there is no setting for subnet and/or gateway. This seems to work fine for remote management. But I'm seeing a section under the Upgrade tab that shows a Changelog and a...
I'm pretty new to MikroTik having only had an RB951 unit for about 2 1/2 years now. And it may be the last MikroTik device I own even though the RB951 has been great. This whole hAP AC shenanigans has really left me with a sour taste for MikroTik as a whole. Communication to the enthusiasts on this ...
I thought I read on these forums that the chip supported 802.3ad in hardware but I can't seem to find the post anymore. I tried searching for a datasheet on qca8519 but came up empty. I'm not even really looking for a time frame on the issue. I'm just wondering if it's even on MikroTik's roadmap to ...
Just wondering if 802.3ad utilizing the switch chip is something that MikroTik plans on supporting in the future? Particularly for the CRS line of devices.
There's a couple things that you can do to help out. 1. Do a site survey. You'll want to find out where the best placement of the APs is with minimal signal overlap. Adjusting settings like power output will most likely come into play here too. 2. Setup an access list to kick users when they exceed ...
I'd love to get an update as well. I've asked a couple times since the MUM announcement. Normis seems to be fine with letting a couple little details about the RB3011 out, but silent on the hAP AC. http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=95359#p490684 I don't think we're looking for an exa...
Figured I'd through this out there to see if anyone had any suggestions. I've got a Cisco sg300-10mpp switch that supports active POE. I bought an Ubiquiti INS-8023AF-I POE adapter that converts active to passive. I've connected the switch to the adapter to my Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD. It powers on the ...
I agree with Jarda. Use wired connections to your APs otherwise you're halfing your bandwidth for clients. And use routing instead of bridging. In this way, you'll limit your broadcast traffic.
I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. Is the guest wireless going to be on the same subnet as the office/personnel lan? It seems like standard firewall rules will apply to keep them separate. If you'd like to enable client isolation, you'll need to unset the "default forward" option on ...
Try following the guide from this page(not mine) --> https://blog.linitx.com/howto-improved-capsman-wireless-client-roaming/ You have to help the clients get kicked off their current AP otherwise they will try to hold onto the connection as long as possible. With the above method, the AP will send d...
Here's my config I've used with success. You'll need to adjust your interfaces accordingly. [admin@MikroTik] > /queue tree print Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid 0 X name="down" parent=bridge-local packet-mark=down limit-at=0 queue=pcq-download-default priority=8 max-limit=5M burst-limit=0...
Here's an example I setup for my guest wifi on my rb951g unit. Adjust accordingly to limit on your CRS unit. [admin@MikroTik] > /queue tree print Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid 0 X name="down" parent=bridge-local packet-mark=down limit-at=0 queue=pcq-download-default priority=8 max-limit...
If you're trying to apply it to wireless, yes. Give it a try. You didn't give any details on the device you're trying to configure or the traffic flow you're trying to queue. In your 1st post, you are marking bridge1. Do the same thing, but on the interface you wish to limit for upload. adding a new...
It sounds like you're going to be routing between the vlans on the 2011i unit, so I believe you'll need to use bridges. Create a vlan, create a bridge, then add the vlan and ports 3-5 into the bridge.
I love my rb951g-2hnd unit, but I'm also eagerly awaiting one of the new hAP AC units as well. You don't give much detail on why either unit would benefit you, so it's hard to say if you should wait or not.
You may ask for support on the PacketFence forums. I don't have a MikroTik + PacketFence setup running yet, so I really can't help. But it believe it should be able to do what you want.
When will the new gear be shown on routerboard.com? How accurate are the Q2 and Q3 availability time frames? Any chance we'll see them for purchase a bit earlier?
What do you guys think of this tree about a block out from site 1? I grabbed a snapshot of the neighborhood overview from airlink and from the top of my house about 15ft up. I've had other suggestions that I'll never make an 8 mile link with that tree. I'm wondering if 900mhz with a high gain direct...
Thanks Lucky, that helps a lot. Also, I looked up elevation for our sites, site1 at 205ft and site2 at 500ft. Looks like I need to do some careful planning and shoot for high towers if we're going to get this to work.
What country? There are different tx power limits accross the world.. for 13km in Europe, you will need large dish. US could be possible with Nanobridge size, 50 Mb is feasible but all depends on the signal quality, interference (other 5GHz radios nearby), antenna gain etc. There is a lot of factor...
In general using a dual polarity dish antenna with around 30dB gain and Netmetal would be the best way. You have any dish recommendations? The NetMetals were at the top of my list, but I'd rather not use a huge dish if possible. Anything similar in size to the NanoBridge's from Ubiquiti? And also s...
Hi Guy, With this project, I'm looking to provide a link for 13.4km or 8.3miles. I've really only done enterprise APs, so point to point stuff is something I'm researching like crazy right now. We've got about 80-90% line of sight. My Questions: Should I try to use 2.4ghz or 5ghz? What would you guy...
I would actually love to see MikroTIk get a head start on 802.11ac wave 2 tech. Typically, I've seen MikroTik quite a bit behind on wifi featuresets. But I'm only a recent MikroTik user, so I could be wrong. With that said, it'd be awesome if they incorporated MU-MIMO, Band Steering, proper POE on t...
Thanks for sharing. That looks pretty sweet. I'm actually thinking about picking up one of the RB922 boards with addon card for 3x3 AC and 2x2 2.4ghz support. And then throwing it in a StationBox InSpot enclosure.
I believe we've spoken on the freenode irc channel before. You mind hopping on again? I want to see if we can work out details on getting you a mikrotik router/switch.
Does Mikrotik have any plans to produce a 2x2, preferably 3x3 dual band(2.4/5ghz) access point with 802.3at/af support? I love my rb951g unit, but would like to be able to add an 802.11ac unit to the home and ceiling mount it with POE. EDIT: I happened to run across the StationBox InSpot which will ...
Fabrice, thanks for your work on this, this is truly awesome. I've been waiting a long time for Mikrotik AP support in PacketFence. Do you have any plans or know if PacketFence will be able to support Mikrotik switches?
I just had a couple quick questions about 802.11ac and Mikrotik. 1. It looks like Mikrotik is using the Qualcomm QCA9882 chips for 802.11ac support. Over here --> https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Qualcomm_Atheros they are said to support 802.11a/b/g/n as well. Is this true? The routerboard.com site makes n...
In my case, I have an RB951g-2hnd unit that I'm only using as an AP. It's only a bridge, no routing involved. So I'm marking the packets using the bridge filter. Both vlan30 and wlan30 are ports on bridge30.
I actually just got done figuring this out. If you use torch on the interface you are trying to mark, and view download/upload, you'll notice there isn't any difference in the src/dst. So what I had to do was mark the src, in my case wlan30 and then mark the dst, in my case vlan30. This gave me the ...
Just picked up one of the rb951g-2hnd units and would like to know a good recommendation for mounting it. Ideally, I'd like to mount the unit up in my attic at the crown point, which is around 16-18ft high. If I do that, would the wifi throw pattern be ok? Or does it need to be mounted lower? Also, ...
