Re: v6.48.5 [long-term] is released!

- 6.48.5 was released in long term without any time spent in stable channel. This is bad long term channel management. - 6.48.5 changelog is in respect to 6.48.4 and not in respect to 6.47.10 (which was last long term channel release). This is bad long term channel management. - 6.48.5 auto upgrade ...

Yes. hex POE can power hap ac2. I use that setup everyday. My setup uses 4W from hex POE to power hap ac2.

Re: Routeros built-in services interface

Thanks. The firewall filter of drop all !LAN was preventing me from reaching Winbox and DNS service. Modifying the firewall rule to WAN (instead of !LAN) fixed the issue. Did I introduce a security gap by changing default firewall input rule interface list to WAN instead of !LAN in the default confi...

Routeros built-in services interface

RouterOS has a lot of services like Winbox, API, DNS, DHCP etc. For DHCP, one can choose which interface to run the server on. However, for the built-in services like Winbox, DNS, which interface do they bind to? Background: I am setting up a switch based vlan based on https://help.mikrotik.com/docs...

Script to change mac address and get a new public ip

Hi, I have been working on a script to change mac address of ether1 to a random one. I finished the script and sharing it here for other users who might have similar needs The script use ether1 packet count as source of randomness and creates a mac address from it. The script also reboots the cable ...

Re: Guest AP - firewall config to separate networks

Thanks for the help. I was able to fix the situation by making 2 changes - Changing the chain to forward instead of input. - Moving the rules up in priority so that they are run before default configuration rules. Here is the output of firewall config which is working for me /ip firewall filter add ...

Re: Guest AP - firewall config to separate networks

Actually that's wrong. The input rule will only reach the router. If it were in the forward chain you would be correct. The current config has rules (full config at http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=K80Em8p4) add action=drop chain=input comment="guest wlan" dst-address=192.168.2.0/24 \ src-ad...

Re: Guest AP - firewall config to separate networks

What exactly do you mean by "reach both wireless and wired hosts"? I mean that a computer on 192.168.2.0/24 network is able to reach (via http/tcp port 80) a host on 192.168.1.17 (which is connected to ether2 port of router/switch. The computer on guest network is also able to reach a hos...

Guest AP - firewall config to separate networks

Hi, I am trying to create a guest wireless network (192.168.2.0/24) such that it shouldn't be able to access the home network (192.168.1.0/24). I followed the steps at http://www.wirelessinfo.be/index.php/mikrotik/pages/vap1 including creating the firewall. I am using RB951G-2HnD. I have pasted my e...

Home wireless + router

I am looking at mikrotik for the first time. I have read around the forums, but am still not clear on what to buy. Hence, posting the question. I am looking for putting together a wireless ap + router. Ideally, in a single enclosure, but choosing 2 products/enclosures is also fine. Here are the spec...
