Re: Wireless bridge with other brand AP

https://s31.postimg.org/o5nvddqd7/cpe.png I have reset the router and used QuickSet, set it up like this, but the problem is still the same. Internet works on router with no problem (I can ping everything). But on devices connected to ethernet ports, I only receive IP address from DHCP server, but ...

Wireless bridge with other brand AP

Hi, I need to connect with my router to an AP and bridge it to ethernet interfaces. The AP is not MikroTik, so I cant set up EoIP or WDS, I dont even have access to setting that thing. I set it up MikroTik that connects to the AP like this (RB433): /interface bridge add name=lan /interface bridge po...

Re: Winbox 3 RC

When I need to work with 3 or more routers simultaneously, i miss tabs on top of the winbox window, that would let me switch between routers (the way how browsers works). The windows way of switching windows is not that convenient. There is also one security bug: when I set master password, log into...

Re: Mikrotik as VPN client

Hi,

try setting up routes on Mikrotik device to datacenter networks. Packet knows how to get from server to router, but when it goes back, it is routed to WAN and it never reaches the server again.

Re: ssh port forward with key pair issue

Hi, You don´t need to NAT traffic from .168 network. NATing is only useful if you need to access other device than router from different network. The problem might be in firewall filter, where is by default block all communication originating from outside (wan) into the router. Try to disable all ru...

Re: DHCP Static Leases

Hello, You are likely forgeting something. Dont worry, it happened to me all the time when I was beginer. Check if you set up these things: Is IP address set for interface, where DHCP server is running? (/ip address) Is address pool created? (/ip pool) Is address pool set for DHCP server? (/ip dhcp-...

Re: DHCP Static Leases

Hello, in order to set up DHCP server, you need to set up few things: Add address of router to desired interface: /ip address add interface=lan address=192.168.1.1/24 Create address pool: /ip pool add name=lan addresses=192.168.1.128-192.168.1.254 Create a network in DHCP settings (this is set of pa...

Re: Winbox 3

Hello,
new version is great, but there is tiny "bug".
When I sort managed routers by Address, it sorts it not by value but as string, e.g.:

172.16.1.10
172.16.1.11
172.16.1.2
172.16.1.3

It should sort like this:

172.16.1.2
172.16.1.3
172.16.1.10
172.16.1.11

Thanks

Re: hot backup

Hello, what you could try is typing this in terminal: /export file=backup It will create file named backup.rsc. It is not encrypted in any way, so if you have passwords saved in your router, anybody can read it from that file. It also do not backup users (but it backups user groups). You can than ea...

DST-NAT to broadcast address

Hi, I need to send UDP wake on lan magic packet coming from WAN to LANs broadcast address. The network is masquaraded so I set dst nating to only unicast address and it worked, but when I set to-address to 192.168.16.255 (broadcast address of the 192.168.16.0/24 network), I recieve nothing. I need t...

Re: Routing between wireless and wired machines

I see no reason why to use WDS. Reset your wlan2 settings, set it as AP bridge. Now, create regular Bridge: /interface bridge add name=LAN Add ports to that bridge (ether 1 and wlan2) /interface bridge add bridge=LAN interface=ether1 /interface bridge add bridge=LAN interface=wlan2 Now, set single D...

Re: Problems getting NTP to work

If I were you, I would resolve IP from DNS names and entered IPs. Once saved, it will be saved as IP anyway. The problem could be that you did not configured DNS on PC you are setting it from. Winbox does not resolves DNS names using routers DNS, but using PCs DNS. When you use terminal, it uses rou...

Re: route hotspot user to vpn

Hi, first think to do is to mark all trafic you want to route through the VPN link. You can do it in IP>Firewall>Mangle, action is mark-routing: /ip firewall mangle add action=mark-routing new-routing-mark=VPN in-interface= hotspot_interface Then, add new route to routing table with routing-mark VPN...

Re: date problem

hello, RouterBoards does not keep time and date once powered down. If the router is connected to the internet, you can set up SNTP (or NTP), which sync the time and date with a time server: Open system > SNTP Client Check Enabled, Mode is unicast In Primary and Secondary NTP Server you can write an ...

Connecting two networks with same IP addresses

Hi I have a network A (IP 192.168.1.0/24) where is server running some LAN services and PC connected to that server. I can not put PC to another network, because I could not reache the server. I also can not change IP of network A, there are about 100 computers with static IP setted. I need to conne...

Re: route public IP throw VPN site to site

How slow is it? And what are Routers upload speeds? The problem is that when you send request to server, it goes to Router A and uses its download, than it is sent via VPN to Router B, so it uses Router A upload and Router B download. On the way back it uses Router B upload, Router A download and Ro...

Re: route public IP throw VPN site to site

Hi, yes, you can. Once you set up VPN link, site A and site B have private IP addresses (for example, router A has 172.16.0.1 and router B has 172.16.0.2 on VPN interface). Router B has another network with the server (for example, network 192.168.2.0/24, router B has 192.168.2.1/24 address and serv...

Re: RB951G dropping packets

It is normal. The firewall rule drops all packets with invalid connection state, so it drops everything what is part of invalid connection.
If you want to protect your network, I recomend to learn more about firewall filters: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Firewall_filter
