do you have fast-track enabled? also, there is no route-cache on rOS v7.x.x like rOSv6 had One of the culprits was 10ms keepalive time on BGP sessions. For some reason crossfig or whatever it's called decided, that keepalive=1s in 6.x means keepalive=10ms in 7.x (which is impossible to set by hand)...

Re: CCR1036 memory upgrade question

Support nightmare? Mikrotik's first two support steps: 1) upgrade to newest stable ROS, 2) generate and send supout. Both won't happen on some other OS. Anyway, there are two opportunities here: 1) Make RouterOS run, and run good on aforementioned whitebox switches (like the supermicro one). Cumulus...

Well, sooner or later, SDN and whitebox band wagon will kill off CCRs and CRSes, if Mikrotik doesn't get on the progress train. There's still a place for a company that creates good and cheap hardware that's open and powerful - Mikrotik may be that company, or if not, someone else will do it. Questi...

We keep the displays off, centrally, on every device -- because they're useless. We also apply stickers. This way LCDs would become of any use for the first time ever. Also, we couldn't care less about images burning in. ;)

Re: SFP/Copper GE costs question

I'm afraid your dream hardware is far from being it. :) - 4 new models to deal with it. 16 SFP (of which 4 SFP+) and 16 1G ports, with software configuration deciding which are active - this is the dream CCR :)

I'm not sure about the 'or' part. I'd need to mail Tilera and ask. I'm sure that you wouldn't be able to get wirespeed on both 1G and 10G ports on the same output, but I don't see any reason that you couldn't use both of them. 1036 could have 4 SFP+ and 16 SFP for one, and I don't want to delve into other models. My point is: if it's not too expensive, it may be worth putting more physical interfaces and let end user decide which they want to use and how. I for one have next to no use for non-optical interfaces :)

Ports are predefined on Tilera's chipset, it's just a matter of wiring them out. Actually I'm quite surprised Mikrotik didn't wire out every possible port out, so maybe it's not as cheap as I hope it is :(

System backup, quick and simple feature request

When using /system backup save, could mikrotik name the file $identity-YYYYMMDD-HHMM.backup instead of current MikroTik-date.backup? Also, some means for mikrotik to automatically connect to some central FTP site, or SFTP/SCP for that matter, to upload daily config snapshots would be great. I know t...

Re: VLAN on bridge problem

It seems that after disabling and enabling bridge, vlans are brought into some strange state between disabled and running - there is no 'X' indicator, and there is no 'R' indicator - doing enable on each vlan brings them back to life.

I have MT3 in one place, on a not-so-busy router and it crashed once, frozen. In second spot it crashed very rapidly; differences: marginal signal, OSPF and 3 wireless interfaces. Too bad it generated 33-byte supout.rif :(

So: just try it, if it doesn't work, you can always downgrade to 2.9.41.

Authentication is only needed when you relay through some SMTP server.
