Ethernet stats shows zero every few ticks

In Winbox, and SSH, when viewing interface statistics it will show all zeros for one update, every few updates. What I mean is that it will show statistics normally for a few seconds and then will show all zeroes for one update, then go back to displaying normal numbers for a few updates before disp...

Re: Antenna works with PRISM, not with Atheros..Help!

So two years later and attempting to upgrade this same link after moving many customers off of it. RB112 with 200mw prism card. Attempting to replace with Rb411 and Atheros card. With the prism card we can run a scan and see 20 other access points. When using a DBii pro-20 500mw can only see 7 acces...

Re: Preconfigure new/replacement wireless card?

I ran into issues when doing a large export. One easily reproducible error is with "/ip address". If ether1 has 192.168.1.1, so the export contains "/ip address set 0 address=192.168.1.1", then the import will error because the interface already has that IP address, causing the r...

Re: Preconfigure new/replacement wireless card?

Thanks for the ideas. I'm sure the scripting can be made as complicated as desired but I was able to achieve success with the following in a lab scenario. Before tech goes out to replace card, export current wireless settings to file /interface wireless export compact file=cardconfig.rsc add a sched...

Re: Preconfigure new/replacement wireless card?

Thank you for the recommendation, but the solution I'm hoping for would not require me to log into the routerboard after installing the new card. The idea is to remove that step entirely so that the tech installing the card can simply swap the card and be done, without having to open a computer and ...

Preconfigure new/replacement wireless card?

Currently if you replace a configured wireless card in a routerboard then the new card will be unconfigured and disabled. If you put the original card back in then the routerboard will "remember" the settings of the old card and not require configuration. Is there any way to preconfigure a...

Wireless frame parity

I was just reading an article that spoke about how some people over at MIT developed a change in TCP to introduce parity into the packets, so that during packet loss the majority of packets would not need to be resent, resulting in increased throughput on lossy wireless links; in some cases an incre...

ethertype 9abe?

I have been seeing some of my Mikrotik AP broadcasting packets with ethernet protocol 9abe to ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff. I have searched and cannot find what this protocol is supposed to be, I assume it is a Mikrotik specific ethertype, as I have only seen it come from Routerboards running ROS. At first I t...

It looks like the same thing that broke using semicolon in ssh commands also broke using newlines, and the line joining slash. The following works fine in 3.x and 4.x, but not 5.x up to 5.6, although works fine in interactive console. :if (something) do={ command1 command2 command3 } it can be remed...

I have recently started having this issue on an x86 machine running 4.7. I upgraded it to 4.11 and ran into the same issue about 4 days later. Rebooting has fixed it, I will try disable/enable the ssh service if it happens again.

Re: New iPhone App for Mikrotik / Router (released!!!!)

the port field when adding a new mikrotik device is limited to 4 digits, making it impossible to connect to 5 digit ports
You may also want to make a specification that this is the ssh port you are supposed to enter, not the winbox port

program looks good so far, I am still exploring it

Re: Sudden Signal problems, good RX bad TX

Further investigation reveals that the crazy signal strength fluctuation are only occurring on certain data rates. All of the B mode data rates (1, 2, 5.5, 11) as well as 9 and 12 show wild variance in signal strength, while the higher data rates ( and 6mbps) seem to be stable. Removing the lower da...

I have a 2.4ghz hpol link running on rb600s and SR2s and the link has been running great at -60 on both sides, until today. I have an x86 box running ros 4.5 set up with a dhcp server that adds arp entries and the lan interface set to arp-reply-only. Everything was working fine until we had a power failure. I have a mast with an omni on top of it with roughly 40ft of lmr leading to a routerboard. I guess an option might be to export the entire config every time a "device is changed" log occurs and have an external system compare the config with the old one and write a log message..

Force DHCP Client to renew lease?

I'm wondering if it is possible for the mikrotik dhcp server to send out a force-renew message to clients so I they can get a new ip address instead of waiting for their current lease to expire or trying to contact the customer and guiding them through an ip renewal process. If possible then how?

I have an x86 Mikrotik router with three WAN connections, each WAN IP is on different subnets with different gateways.

Only one of them will respond to remote pings, there is nothing in the firewall that would prevent the pings.

How can I make the Mikrotik respond to pings for all 3 ip's
