Remote Command Execution FROM a Mikrotik

I have setup a blackhole BGP route server and from any Unix, I am able to use Fail2Ban and send remote commands to add the failed attempts to the blackhole list. For the life of me, I cannot figure how to do the same thing from a Mikrotik. I really don't want to use another Unix box to log into each...

Re: Disable Winbox Tool in Dude

BUMP...

Is there a way in The Dude to allow pass-through credentials (whoever logs into the dude) so we can start using AAA for The Dude, and all routers? That way if the person is an admin, they have all rights, but if they are a tech, they get read only access, based on their policy...

Re: Nstreme test package

First, GREAT improvements on the NStreme package. Lower ping times (100ms to 20ms or so with 50 clients). Major improvements. Jitter is still not totally consistent, but better. I am seeing low up times (connectivity from clients). I have been on 3.10 and uptimes of days (30-80 days continuous). Now...

Re: Will this wireless link work?

At first glance, No. You have your heights set to 460' and the other side @ 393' on the first graphic. That is to just clear the hill, but you definately need clearance for the fresnel zone. Your second graphic, click on the peak of the hill, and above will give you "Clearance" to guage your tree he...

APC UPS Simple vs. Smart Signaling

I don't know all the technical differences between the APC "Simple" vs. "Smart" signaling; but is it, or will it, be possible for the RouterOS to support the "Simple" signaling? I know it currently support the "Smart" signaling. The newer APC UPSs that you can buy almost anywhere mainly support "Sim...

Re: Parent - Child Polling

Thanks for the post. I watched an outage yesterday and what seems to happen is when the ping fails, it still sees the CPU as 0, and still up. They only turn orange, never "Down" status. Only the ping fails, and that is what I get notified of.

Parent - Child Polling

I am using The Dude v2.2. If I set up a parent/child relationship between an AP and router, it seems like The Dude ignores the relationship and sends out notifications during the polling. It used to ignore the children if the parent was down. Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible I get notified af...

Follow Up

Just as a follow-up, I did use integers instead of a decimal and it did work. This is what I have in my system.

round(oid("iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.318.1.1.2.1.1.0")*9/5+32) = Correct Values

This just converts the Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Thanks

SNMP Conversions for Charts

I would like to be able to convert a Celsius (spelling) temperature reading to Fahrenheit. I am currently doing it with MRTG, but want to move some of my older monitoring systems to "The Dude". I have created a data source, and if I am reading the SNMP directly, it works fine. Now, I want to take th...

Post Config

valens, Would you post a smidgeon of your config so I can try it on my router? I posted my config, and if you run it through (changing your IP), it may not work for you. I have the exact config on a 2.8.28 router and it works. I have it on a 2.9.22 router and it does not. Same code, just different v...

Transparent Bridge Queue Tree

My /ip firewall mangle counters do increment, but in the /queue trees do not increment. The queue tree rules I have my parent as the bridge interface and the packet mark as the one in the mangle rules. Simple test is just IP based. I am trying to do a VoIP prioritization by just using one IP and tag...

Bridges and Queues

I am having the same issue. Check my post at http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=7677. In fact, anythi...

Auto Negotion Fixes

Check the changelogs... I don't know what hardware you are using, but in 2.9.11, they updated the RTL8169 driver, and more specifically in 2.9.14 they fixed the "autonegotiation" settings, It sounds like that would fix it. What's new in 2.9.14: *) fixed upgrade from version 2.8 to keep correct order...

It really looks that I can not shape traffic on a transparent bridge. However it is strange that the guys from MikroTik have posted an article HowTo shape on it! No VLANS Needed

Coussa, Is there a specific reason you are wanting to use VLANs besides security? Some of the reasons you want to use VLANs and VLAN Routing is to separate networks across multiple switches, or even in the same switch. It tags packets as they pass across your network as if they were one big network....

Once he is in, that gets a bit hairy and you need to start thinking creatively. Depending on your setup... bridged/firewalled, you can create some rules to help prevent IPs from being utilized. I know with Aetheros this is possible. I foun...
