RBwAP2nD-BE - Reset

Hi, I had recently purchased RBwAP2nD-BE and I would like to know how to reset it. Initially I had set it up as an Access Point. The layout is as follows: a Mikrotik router serves DHCP serving IP 192.168.1.x range and RBwAP2nD-BE is another DHCP server serving 192.168.88.x (if I disable the DHCP ser...

Re: How do I log on to WebFig after activating Hotspot?

It's 5.20 (unboxed it yesterday) http://192.168.88.1 redirects to http://192.168.88.1/status Do you recommend to upgrade? Thx J. An old thread but this solution I find is much easier and faster, at least for me. IP -> Services -> www -> change to any other value. I use 8080. hotspot automatically u...

Re: 2 LAN Cables from Mikrotik to Switch

if you were to get another switch. get a Mikrotik CRS and setup bounding. out of curiosity, what is the reason for such topology? During this COVID-19 pandameic business is slow, so I'm planning to tidy up my cables in my office. Then came a situation where should I have 1 LAN cable running from sw...

Re: 2 LAN Cables from Mikrotik to Switch

The diagram is meant to illustrate my question of could you simply just add another LAN cable to such a connection and you could increase the available bandwidth between a mikrotik and the devices.

By the replies, it isn't as simple as that. I'd need switch that supports link aggregation feature.

Thanks for the reply! This novice don't know that he needs to configure the switch in order to increase the bandwidth available to the upstream.

2 LAN Cables from Mikrotik to Switch

Hi members, I just thought of this and was quite stumped about what would actually happen. In case my explanation is unclear, I have attached a diagram of it. Say, ether 3 and ether 4 ports are connected to the same switch via 2 cat. 5 LAN cables; and 4 devices are connected to the switch. What will...

Re: DHCP Leases - Comment

Hi MKX,

For question 1, do the comments get backed up too if we do a backup of the mikrotik?

Thanks for the reply.

DHCP Leases - Comment

Hi, Couple of quick questions. 1. I'm wondering about the comments that we could give to DHCP leases. Are they stored within the mikrotik itself or within the winbox software? If it is stored within winbox software, how can I export or back it up? That way when I reinstall windows, I can simply impo...

Manually Add Lease Breaks Network

Hi, I'm setting up hAP ac² on my existing home network with 8 APs all connected using ethernet cable. Using the script when you first switch on a newly purchased mikrotik, everything works, truly plug n play. I can see the following: modem+router giving out ip to mikrotik = 192.168.0.2 mikrotik hand...

Re: RB952Ui Dual Band 5GHz

Hi,

Try the upper range channel.
Try limiting the bandwidth to only 20/40MHz

Here's my settings. You can access it from Wireless Tables -> double click on wlan2 -> Wireless tab.

Hope it helps.

5GHz Frequency

Hi, I am fiddling with wifi on the hAP ac² hardware. Up to the moment I've been using the 2GHz band and now would like to make fuller use of the hardware by using the 5GHz. This is where I ran into problems. 5GHz is not as simple as setting up the 2.4GHz, With the 2.4GHz band, I could simply leave t...

Re: OpenVPN Client

I say it is surprising because Mikrotik is a commercial/enterprise grade versatile network product, yet it does not support sha256/512. Yet, household grade router that can be installed DDWRT firmware actually supports sha512 in OpenVPN. Hopefully Mikrotik can implement ciper sha256/512 in OpenVPN s...

yeah, I suspected the sha512 setting causes connection failure. Hard to believe that Mikrotik does not support sha512 in the RB951. :(

CCR1009 7G vs 8G

Hi guys, on the Mikrotik website, it doesn't display the 8G anymore, unless you search for it explicitly via google. So, does that mean the 8G series is discontinued or it is a new series that Mikrotik hasn't updated it on their website yet? Can't find much on the google about this question. Henry

Winbox: could not create file

Hi,

I tried logging into Mikrotik via Winbox v3.0b3. It gives me error message ERROR: Could not create file.

I've tried running it as Administrator and it still comes out with that error message.

I've tried googling for this problem, no answer comes up. What is missing?

Thank you

Anyone? The problem is, I can't connect to my pptp server from every connection. So, it's like I can connect to my pptp server from hotel A, but not from hotel B. Those locations that I can't connect, I can connect to the mikrotik just fine via winbox. I thought the access point does not allow vpn, ...

Connecting to PPTP from WAN Stalled

Hi,

I cannot connect to my PPTP server from WAN side. It simply stalls and disconnect me, though connecting to StrongVPN PPTP server presents no problem at all. Previously I can connect to the PPTP server fine.

Attached is the log from Mikrotik.

What seems to be wrong?

Thank you
