Re: Hotspot 2000 users 500Mbps throughput

If I remember this presentation correctly, an 1100AH was configured to handle a couple thousand hotspot users at a time. 6+ years ago, I cannot remember everything that was in it. http://mum.mikrotik.com/presentations/US10/FelixWindt.pdf A lot of things have changed since 2010, but many of the opti...

Hotspot 2000 users 500Mbps throughput

What hardware would people recommend for this? It will be too much for RB1100AHX2 and my understanding is that hotspot only runs on a single core at the moment so no benefit in using CCR?

Problem with Ethernet port dropping every 5 minutes

I have two MT routers connected together via a wireless bridge. Every 5 minutes all traffic over the link is interrupted. If I look in the logs one router shows the message: "ether5: bridge port received packet with own address as source address (00:0c:42:8a:43:56), probably loop" However there's no...

Applying routing marks to hotspot traffic

I need to apply routing marks to my hotspot traffic as I need to apply different routes for this compared to my internal traffic (which connects via RIP to MPLS cloud). I can't get the hotspot to work correctly using the following mangle rules (bridge2-hotspot is my hotspot network, vlan30-hotspot i...

Re: Newsletter 61

Practical tests by other vendors have shown there is zero benefit in point to point configuration with 3rd RF chain. 3rd chain will either be effectively identical to one of the other two (if same polarisation) or a combination of the other two (if a different polarisation), so its not possible to s...

Problem with policy based routing

I'm trying to set up a policy so that my hotspot interface traffic goes to a set of default gateways on one WAN interface (only one will be active at any time). My corporate traffic will then go via another WAN interface running RIP. What I have tried to do is mark the hotspot traffic as "Public" an...
