Re: What is wrong with nv2?

It's not that I complain on wireless capabilities of mikrotik gear. It's kind of observation I made. About year ago after I got dissapointed by 802.11ac support from mikrotik I decided to use other producer equipment. The other one that gave me so much enjoyment to work with. Re: Balance connected customers between AP - s

You can limit max number of stations which can connect to an AP, together with limiting the minimum signal should be enough to provide reasonable WiFi service. Keep in mind that you want to limit signal from client to AP, as per your post I would understand that you want to limit the signal strength...

Is it just Omni's you use for AP's and not sectors? Of course not only Omni's, these are AP's in center of villages where number of CPEs is not high enough to invest in sectors for covering 360 degrees. As number of clients grows, we switch slowly from Omnis to sectors. In bigger towns its impossib...

Don't understand the need for a 24dBi CPE dish to travel just 3KMs, also the low client number on the AP's is helping you. 22-25dB CPE is a need for that distance to be able to sell 30Mb plans, especially when fresnel is not 100% clear. Completely agree. But instead of going the UBNT way we're installing Mimosas. And guess what. 160MBit is a sticker ;-)). With a PHY-Rate of 2x86.7 up to 140Mbps is doable under ideal conditions. Dont expect to see the numbers of the fan-boys on UBNT Forum. All shines there even when they have to restart between tests. Re: 802.11ac on 40mhz spectrum, will it give better result?

Mimosa uses a Quantenna chipset. The UBNT AC Lite is normal .ac. These AF5X are custom designed chips (no .ac). Yes MT has to do some work for .ac. Esp. nv2 needs adaption. The problem might be the cpus on the MT-.ac boards are not much faster than on .n boards. SW-Based TDMA needs some CPU-Power. ...

We are talkin 802.11ac. Mimosa is based on a standard .ac chipset. UBNT uses the same Atheros Chipsets MT does. So results should be comparable. Yep, they do. But for example UBNT uses also a TDMA ASIC, plus the filtering technology... Dont know about mimosa but its definitely not plain 802.11. Its...

You find good numbers doing some math with the link planner from mimosa. Their MAC-Efficiency differs with framing size 2/4/8ms. So you've a tradeoff latency vs. speed. 802.11ac is not more sensitive to interference with same modulations. But to get higher modulations you need a cleaner channel of ...

Take the percentage increase of physical layer throughput. You see the same increase in real performance if your signal is strong enough. MT has to do some work to make that happen with nv2. With plain 802.11 you see this gain. Take a look here. http://www.winncom.com/images/stories/GoNet_WP_Things...

But how would the DHCP server recognize if you are paid or trial user when assigning the IP address? I guess this will not work, you define the address pool in the Servers tab, not profile. And its impossible to have 2 hotspot servers working independetly on one interface.

Do you have clear LOS? did you test 802.11 wireless protocol? NV2 seems to be increasing CCQ with the amount of traffic going through the link. Re: The right choice in P2P polarization

I had one link mistakenly reversed polarization on each side (one side was CH0 V / CH1 H and the other side CH0 H / CH1 V) and there was no difference in the link at all, although I would guess it should be same on both sides of the link.

Re: RB433 & 802.11N high speed wifi to utilize broadband 100

In the wifi adapter (Intel centrino N-6205) settings on my laptop there are advance settings for channel width but only for 802.11 n . There is no mention for channel width for b/g?? From what I can see on the net 40Mhz is only for n? I am confused. Hmm I have to say I am not exactly sure about thi...

Re: 2 Ptp links and I lose half the bandwidth

I have seen similar behaviour long time ago when using routerboards with more than 1 wireless card, therefore started to build x86 with 2 or 3 cards max. Usually the root cause of this was shared IRQ but that was before NV2 was introduced. Could you check if your cards uses different IRQ? Did you tr...

Inox thank you on your suggestion! lucky79 thank you also very much on your suggestions! I tried to switch to 40MHz turbo in RB433 but then none of my laptops (windows 7, win XP) nor mobile phones (symbian, android) do not see my wifi network? Youre welcome This is weird, sometimes the wireless car...

Re: RB433 & 802.11N high speed wifi to utilize broadband 100

I have RB433 with R52 802.11 b/g wifi card for my home LAN. My ISP gives me new high speed broadband for my home. Till now I had 4/0,5 Mbps adsl link, and now I have 100/20 Mbps. Till now ma R52 was enough but with this new 100/20 Mbps speed my R52 now is a bottleneck for my wifi laptops that have ...

Re: wireless AC can't find Noise Floor Threshold

Noise floor is a measurement of the ambient RF noise as seen by your wifi interface. It is not configurable, it is a read only value. It is however used in conjunction with signal strength to calculate the SNR value. Hi Skillful, sorry but I dont agree, with N cards you could set the noise floor ma...

we can't fix problems in existing old version :) please upgrade back to v6.20 where you did not have these issues Hi Normis, nobody want you to fix existing old version :D the thing is many people including me do see better wireless (NV2) performance in 5.26 than 6.20 as Tonymobile mentioned one of...

Re: Downgrade to 5.26

Ok, my device is 433AH and 1 Wlan module. I ha see in tool/profile, ipsec module from 70 to 90% !!!! I'm sure that if upgrade to the latest version, fixes the problem but because it happens ??? I'm downgradind some of my devices because I think that the TDMA (NV2) is more stable in older ve...

Re: NetMetal5 with Current TX zero ???

hello friends I bought a NetMetal5 and now work on A/N mode , on Current TX Power tab , all db's are on zero . is this a normal ? TX power mode is on Default . Thanks Hello ViREnG, yes this is normal, TX power readings are not done yet on the AC radios according to uldis who already answered in 6.2...

RB922UAGS-5HPacD hanged after upgrade, needed power cycle to restore access. minimum tx-power 6dBm, seriously guys? Current Tx power still shows 0dBm. Automatic Tx power based on antenna gain still not working. No manual noise floor threshold... No spectral scan... I guess I am holding the AC produ...

Re: Manual noise floor threshold in AC products

Actually after doing some more tests it seems that NV2 protocol is lowering the CCQ and not noise as I thought.... if I use 802.11 I can get 99-100% CCQ but when switch to NV2 it drops to 60-90%... Throughput seems to be a bit better with 802.11 but the latency is too high with some load on the link...

Manual noise floor threshold in AC products

Hello guys, anyone noticed the noise floor threshold disappeared from the AC products? I have started using SXTAC and Netmetal 5, both not having this advanced option... used this quite a lot in noisy environments mostly for short links where it helped a lot achieving 99% CCQ. When upgraded these hi...
