max-mtu being ignored on pppoe

Hi Guys,

MY RB2011 is ignoring my max-mtu settings.

I set it to 1480 but but when I look at the properties of my PPP interface it has been changed to 1520.

How can I force it to 1480, as specified?

Cheers,
Andy

Re: RB2011 upload problem.

HELP!! - anybody? Same problem, more or less. TCP connections don't works. Have you find a solution ? Regards Pasquale Same here. Sorry Guys, I never did find a solution. I'm pretty sure it's a bug but nobody from Mikrotik could sort it or confirm anything. I gave up on the router in the end as it ...

Re: RB1100 3xADSL bonding with MLPPP, Upstream Problem

Hi Mistry7, I know it's been a while since you posted this but I'm having the same trouble and not getting much help from Mikrotik tech support. Would it be possible for you to explain in a little more detail what you did to get this to work. When 1 line is connected, my MTU is 1480, but when 2 line...

Max-MTU Setting is always 1520

My bonded broadband setup on my Routerboard ignores my max-mtu setting if both lines are bonded.

If only one line is running, it's fine - if both lines are bonded, no matter what value I specify for max-mtu it always reports as 1520.

How can I fix this?

Is it a bug?

Re: RB2011 upload problem.

Just figured out what may be causing the problem.

My connection is bonded broadband - 2 lines connected over MLPPP - If I disable one of the lines then there is no problem, uploads fine.

Bond both lines again and the problem reappears.

Anybody?

RB2011 upload problem.

Hi Guys, Need a little help solving an upload issue with our Routerboard. If I try an upload a large file, the upload starts but then hangs after a few seconds with a "Host is not communicating" error - after another few seconds the upload resumes but then stops again. Eventually the upload is succe...

Problem sending emails with attachments

Hi Guys, Got a real tricky one - I spent hours yesterday trying to figure out why we cannot send emails from our pcs to our email server if they contain attachments. Turns out, it's a problem with our Mikrotik RB2011 - if I change back to our old router everything works fine. Change back to the RB20...

Re: MLPPP connection problem if a circuit fails

I have now created a scheduled script to restart ppp session should a connectivity issue be found. I ping a remote server, but I'd like to ping the default gateway of my ISP instead. What's the best way to obtain the gateway as a variable for the script - I could hard code this but it might change i...

Re: MLPPP connection problem if a circuit fails

Hi,

This has been working fine with a Linksys WRT54G running Tomato firmware for over 2 years now so I doubt it's an ISP issue.

If I stop and restart the PPPoE session manually it does fire back up again.

How would I go about detecting a loss of connection with a Netwatch script?

Re: MLPPP connection problem if a circuit fails

Hi Again, I have some more feedback about this issue. Now, when both lines are synced and bonded on the RB2011 everything is fine, shows as 2 active links. If I reboot one of the modems, after a short while the RB2011 sees that 1 of the 2 links is down and adjusts itself down to 1 active link. Then,...

MLPPP connection problem if a circuit fails

Hi Guys, I have bonded broadband working perfectly until I lose one of the circuits. Then, my RB2011 will detect this and state that only 1 link remains but I lose Internet connectivity. Even when the 2nd line comes back online it still fails to connect to the Internet, the only fix is to manually s...

Re: PPPoE on port other than eth1 [Solved]

Thanks guys, I did manage to fix this and it was, as you correctly pointed out, the slave issue. My initial problem was trying to take ports eth2 and eth3 out of slave mode but this didn't seem possible. Using eth7 and eth8 was the answer and as we are only talking about 2 x 4Mb/s DSL lines, the 100...

Anybody?

Is this something that's even possible?

I just need PPPoE on a port that is NOT eth1

Re: PPPoE on port other than eth1

That's great and it's something I will look into once I can get a simple PPP session running on a port that is NOT eth1.

So, all I want to do is a now get a simple PPP session on one ADSL connection on eth7 port.

This is where I'm struggling and it's so basic is laughable.

Why is it not working?

Re: PPPoE on port other than eth1

I'm trying to get bonded broadband working via MLPPP I have 2 bridged modems connected to eth2 and eth3 and I'd like the router to dial my ISP and make the bond - I also need this to be failsafe, so if one of the lines fails (which happens from time to time) the circuit will still be available. I cu...

Re: PPPoE on port other than eth1

Thanks for the replies. Not sure that mac address change is the answer but I will try it. What I do see is the system return a constant status of "Waiting for packets...." - like it's not even trying to connect. One other thing is.... On the main "Quick Set" window on Winbox I see an option for spec...

SOLVED - PPPoE on port other than eth1

Hi,

I can get PPPoE running just fine on eth1 but if I try and create a ppp session using, for example eth2, it never connects.

How can I get my RB2011 router to connect a PPPoE session on a slave port?

Thanks in advance
