same problem here:
non mt-clients and >3Mbit/s (p2mp) on the channel -> everything gets instable
RB600 with ROS v3.10

Same Situation with RB532 and v2.951 (same channel, same Antenna, same clients - only RB changed) -> everything works fine - also with high load.

We had to switch back to v2.951

we have also "non-Mikrotik" CPEs wich show us the signal via web-interface like I wrote before... And there is nearly no one that cannont handle the installation by himself. With Mikrotik CPEs we have to use the tool from cmit (which does not work if the wlan if is in a bridge) or have to call/drive...

Mikrotik does have a signal reading go into the registered tab it gives signal strength etc etc. but a nice tool like this may eas install's :-) yes - but i think thats all too difficult. you can use the wireless align mode with the beeper. beeper is not really the right thing if you (or a customer) is installing a CPE! Hello Mikrotik Support, don´t you see how many people need a tool with which they can monitor the Signal strenghts for installation of a CPE?! I found a way to limit Number of Connections and Bandwith - but nothing about packets/s till now... Is there any way? Reason: Some tools (i think update list for Gameservers and/or p2p) see...

Hello, i upgraded a RB133c from 2.945 to v3 rc4 an now the RB does not work anymore... I can ping the device without problems, but there is no access via winbox, ssh, telnet.... If i go to the router by www, the page sometimes answers but it needs about 60sec till it responds... what can i do now? W...

okay, i tried to restart this router tonight. After reboot it doesnt come back itself - so i had to drive to the tower... After Power off/on, the router startet but was not accessible for about 5 Minutes. After that i was able to login and after that everythin looked fine... BUT - all settings from ...

web is not activated and ssh does also not work!
Router also lost his password in the last weeks sometimes and supout did also not work - so, atm no access to the router via remote...

how do i download the winbox loader from the router?
Version on the router is 2.943 - it is not possible to upgrade at the moment, but 2.943 is still not very old...

Everything channel bandwidth is allowed to use in Germany 5,10,20 and 40 MHz (50mW EIRP / MHz) . NSTREAM2 is not allowed in cause of no DFS. (maybe a feature for next ROS). Hello, by using another SSID the link seems to work better. We have several Accesspoints in our area - all with the same SSID. That helps, if one Accesspoint has power outage, or anything like this... But it seems, that ROS has a Problem if same SSID is close to the Accesspoint?! Channels are differ...

Thats about 25 Watt - we are only allowed to do 1 Watt here....

Is it allowed in south africe to do such high power on the link or does nobody care about it?

hi,

why is 24dbi+20dbm -> 34dBm?
In my Opinion it should be 44 dBm - or not?!?!

i thought if i give a tx-power of 10dbm, than it adds 10dbi to my total tx-power...

Is this not right?
I would be happy if not so ;-)

well - it´s new for me that wpa2 should be "buggy" :roll:

but i think even a bad encryption (like WEP) is better than nothing, because without enc. everyone could connect to your AP or could listen to the data sent over the air....

you can generate a virtual ssid with another type of encryption...

as we had problems like this, clients came and had signal betwenn 75 and 90 for about 10seconds and then lost connection...

pls check with wpa (NOT wpa2) encription or for testing reasons without any encription.

We had/have Problems with Mikrotik AP and non Mikrotik CPE using WPA2

Before we also had Linksys WRT and WPA2 without problems...

seems that there is no difference if i do b oder g mode... With Linksys-only configuration (Broadcom chipset) G-only, WPA-AES we had stable pings for about 3-5ms But the hardware was not good to manage for an Accesspoint... So - i think it should be possible to have stable pings for distances <1km -...

normally a channel in 5GHz environement uses 20MHz of the spectrum. With this option you quarter or half the bandwidth of the channel u use to 5 or 10 MHz (you also reduce the max. speed to 27mbps or 13,5 mbps) You have to check if your tranzeo cpes can do so, but I think most non-mikrotik stuff can...

Why aren´t you doing everything in the 5GHz turbo area?

we have dcma81 on each end of this link.
On another link we have dcma81 at one end and cm9 on the other.

always the problem with the dcma81...
This card has the Atheros AR5413 Chipset - so i think it should be a well-known card...

Interesting results on a third link with CM9 card:

if i change the tx power +-4dbm, my rx power on the other side changes also by +-4dbm

Could it be that there is a problem with DCMA81 cards (Atheros 5413)?

okay - so my calculation was right... So, what could be the case for the significant rx power loss on my link? A bad working wireless card? A bad working mikrotik driver, that cannot realy affect the tx power? i also tried it on another link 5 minutes ago - following results: 17dbm -> 68 15dbm -> 72...

thanks for your reply... your calculations are absolutely right -but i think the rx-signal i get from the mikrotik is also an logarythmic value - isn´t it? incoming signal is NOT meassured in mW - it´s meassured in dbm! so my opinion is, that if i reduce tx power at one side with 3db, than rx signal...

I think this depends on frequency mode, country and antenna gain?!

that´s really crazy:

with the following tx-power settings i get the following Signal levels:

10dmb -> 81
13dbm -> 77
14dbm -> 75
15dbm -> 66

Why is there such a big difference between 14 and 15 dbm?
It happens on both sides (same Card, DCMA81)...

I think a signal 68 is very goog for 9km over a city and it would be interesting wich transmit power you use for this...
