Re: RB2011UiAS-2HnD port forwarding issue

i may be wrong, as i'm a newb to mikrotik as well, however you nat rules don't look right to me. i'll show you an example of what i would do to forward 9090 to a ip on my lan. no need to input a port number on the action tab, unless you want it redirected to a different port. 9090.tiff 9090 2.tiff

Re: need some traffic shaping help

Thanks for sharing that. I'll likely pick it up because now that I know MT exists, it'll be hard going to anything else. Might as well start learning all I can bout routeros. I have traffic shaping working and working well. Adding new rules and they all function as desired. Still open to any advice/...

Re: Very slow wireless performance

I just went through a similar issue myself, so I'll share what I learned and maybe it'll help you out. I have an apple Ecosystem for the most part aside from having roku players instead of the apple TV. My Mac mini serves up hd files via a plex server but my roku was having to buffer all the time, e...

Re: need some traffic shaping help

like I stated in my first post, I've read tons of threads and how-to's, even some outside the mikrotik community, (that's how I've managed to get it working). But they generally aren't dumbed down enough or aren't detailed enough for me to get what I want to know. I just want some answers now to be...

Re: need some traffic shaping help

i decided to give it one more go before settling in on ubiquiti.... simply because i really like this router. i finally have some luck and am making headway!!! would really like a little input if someone doesn't mind to help me further understand a few things. one of which is, how does traffic flow?...

Re: need some traffic shaping help

No one then? I hate that cause I really like the product. But I know from time to time I'll need help. Unfortunately if I can't get some direction for a task as simple as this I suppose I'll stick with ubiquiti. I'm having better luck with support there and I feel the router is plenty up to the task...

Re: need some traffic shaping help

true, i haven't. i was hoping someone could walk me through a port base rule for traffic shaping both upstream and downstream. this is some of what i had in my attempts to dynamically limit usenet traffic. i also have bridge-local which encompasses all the gigabit ports, the wlan and guest wlan as w...

Re: need some traffic shaping help

anyone able to shed some light for me? just wanting to make sure i can get everything i need working before my return period is up. if this doesn't work out, i'll probably go back to ubiquiti since i could manage to get the router to do what i needed.

thanks in advance

Re: need some traffic shaping help

I have looked at the wiki .......and threads...... and outside how-to's. That's why I'm posting here. Would like someone to help me walk through setting up a port based rule. Also curious about bridging and if I have to create one for this to function correctly or if I can use an existing one.

Real quick though, any way to increase the time before it logs you out of the webfig? It's way too short for my liking right now.

Re: Ditch ubiquiti and come to mikrotik?

That looks nice and I don't mind at all having to add gear. I halfway prefer poe'd access points tied in to a non-wireless router. But the MT has so much power it doesn't matter where I put it in my home, it covers my property and then probably half the block. :D The AP's you link to, would just one...

Re: Ditch ubiquiti and come to mikrotik?

found such old article on the Apple and 40mhz width and there is one section on that: In 2.4 GHz, Apple won't allow 40 MHz "wide" channels that, in the absence of other Wi-Fi network signals, could double throughput. Moody explained that Apple has a huge interest in preserving the functionality of ...

the configuration looks ok. 20/40Ce or 20/40eC means where the Control and where the Extension channel will be located - above or below the control channel. Re: Ditch ubiquiti and come to mikrotik?

- the 15GB vid is at least 2hrs. in length. so that should be a paltry 125MB/minute or 2.08MB/sec (16.66Mbit/sec). That should be easily achieved, even on the lesser 144Mbit connection....... right? - late 2012 mac mini w/ a 500GB SSD http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n7/noremacyug/mini_zps52369c21...

Re: Ditch ubiquiti and come to mikrotik?

signal quality is strong. neither device is over 6 ft from the router. so i should have more than enough bandwidth, correct? i thought that perhaps the rook was the culprit, however even streaming plex to my macbook air, it buffers. i'm not understanding the problem.

thanks guys. ended up with the RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN. have it hooked up and love it so far. however, i still get some buffering when streaming a 15GB file from my plex server. shouldn't i have more than enough bandwidth? when monitoring the network traffic leaving my server it's only, at max, 2MBytes/s...

Not sure how the uap-lr performs, but I am less than impressed with my Edgerouter lite/uap-ac combo. For $360 I expected more from them. The Edgerouter lite is ok, but for just a touch more than the price of the Edgerouter I can have the mikrotik RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN. I'll give up AC, but I don't real...

Ditch ubiquiti and come to mikrotik?

Just purchased a Edgerouter lite and a unifi uap-ac. Not impressed with the uap-ac this far, especially for its price. The Edgerouter seems ok so far but I'm not devoted to it. My main goals are: -Ability to stream HD content from my plex server to 2-4 nodes in my home. -complete wifi coverage of my...
