Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

What CPE equipment are you using? It is a hodgepodge but we have standardized on Tranzeo over the last year. But there are Prism CPE as well and perhaps a few WRT54g type routers around and a few atheros, 8 of 50 or so customers. I am not so sure that the XR2 really performs all that better than th...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

Oh yes I have verified and tested all cables and pigtails. I always check the obvious stuff first. The average connection is around -57 to -62dB. for the XR2 that works well and that is certainly ok... at least at this location where I am trying to test it. It seems to be about 3dB. better than the ...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

We have no or at least very few CPE with Atheros radios. Most are Tranzeo or prism or some other chip. Perhaps that is a problem? I tuned one card to achieve an average 3dB improvement in signal at our central pop. It also reports %98-100 ccq and -100 noise floor. I don't know if I can expect better...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

Have you selected the correct antenna connector? If the board wasn't rebooting, it's unlikely to be power related. Specs say XR2 consumes 2.97W @ 24dBm (nothing less in datasheet, so I'd assume it can't go lower?) RB532 r5 has 20W spare for extension cards, so you've got loads left. Your 18v/1A PSU...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

Something is catestrophically wrong. I have the rb532 rev. 5 and 502 with 2 XR2 and an atheros 5G. backaul. Power is 18V. 1A. Associations are very low and weak. CCQ varies between 18% and 32% Noise floor is good at -101 though. I have the card I am testing at 9dB (19dB) which seemed about right. Us...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

eburgash, giganet, everyone thanks for all this information. The owner bought these boards without consulting so I couldnt research them earlier, I have ordered a 532 and I believe it a revision 5, also a rb502 daughter card and an 18V. 1A. PS. We have two H-Pole arrays just waiting for them. Oh I a...

What is GotNet? I finally found one machine, a high end dell serever, that would PXE boot properly. Naturally it's at the bottom of a rack. I'm curious why Mikrotik cannt make a bootable CD like every other linux distributer in the word. Re: Installing: this is pathetic

In my language we say: "when trouble comes, open your door..." meaning that trouble never come one at a time. Try with only one computer installing through floppy and netinstall. Check the bios settings for boot device priority. Check the floppy disk you have maked. Don't try with different floppys...

Installing: this is pathetic

Try to 2.9.43 on an IDE drive: I have burned 4 different CDs... none boot on any computer in my data center. Ok, try PXE boot, no PXE capable cards want to talk to the Mikrotok Netinstall. Tried 4 diferent ones. Made a boot floppy in Netinstall and it does not boot... several other do not boot, on a...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

Oh. I see. So the xr2's will require more processor as well as a higher current POE supply. Ok, thanks very much! Yes to run an AP you do require more CPU capacity. However, your current POE rated at 1amp is more than ample to power the 532. No the current on is 48V 35mA. I will buy a 18V. 1A. for ...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

It sounds as though you have an RB-153 Performance: MIPS32 4Kc based 175MHz CPU Memory: 32 MB Memory / 64 MB Storage Connectivity: 5 Ethernet, 3 miniPCI, 1 DB9 Yes that is it. No the 12Vdc power supply @ 1 amp is sufficient. Just make sure and re-pin the power jumper on the board for 12Vdc if the j...

Re: XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

It looks like a 133 but when we bought it I thought it was a 500 series, which I cannot find on routerboard.com - one with 3 mini PCI slots and 5 ethernet ports that is. Should I buy a 12 V. 1A. POE supply then? Or could someone reccommend something better? So far I've only found 12V. 1A. from our u...

XR2 performance problem? 2.9.43

I have two XR2's in an rb100 with an atheros A wds backhaul. The XR2s will eventually power two sectoral H-Pole antennas but in testing using th existing 9dB omni, the performance does not even equal the prism pcmcia cards in the current soekris AP. One XR2 barely gets any association, I think it is...

ip-binding problem - one radio malfunction

Our clients using a Tranzeo radio who need to passthrough the hotspot login do not work with ip-binding. Other radios work fine but not this one Tranzeo. I think maybe it uses a z-com. Since hotspot no longer uses mangle I can't mark their packets to passthrough. Any suggestions?

Either that, or just try changing the gateway of your DHCP config to be 10.1.0.1, and not the hotspot itself... I thought that would work too but it did not. The config I posted was the one I went back to after trying using the Cisco port as the gateway in dhcp. In fact, nothing would work with the...

It appears that your hotspot's default gateway is on address 10.1.0.1, which is part of the hotspot network itself and thus connected to the interface that the hotspot is active on (bridge1). Yes, 10.1.0.1 is a port on a Cisco 7509. That is not a good design. You should have a separate client-facin...

2.8.17 dropping all prism associations

This AP worked for half a year with no problems and now once a day it has begun to drop all the client associations on the prism card and does not allow reassociation. There is an Atheros A backhaul in the AP which is unaffected. Is this a known problem in 2.8.17? edit: prism firmware is 0.3.0/1.3.4...

how can you tell that there is 99% packet loss over a wireless link. it is not possible at all - the link disconnects and there is no `packet loss` as it is on wired network. If I ping one end of the eoip tunnel from the other end over the wireless link I get very few successful ping i.e. 1% to 4% ...

2.8.17 stopped my atheros A channel eoip from working?

I just upgraded my two APs from 2.7 to 2.8.17 and my A channel backhaul eoip tunnel now has 98% packet loss but shows -66 at 54Mb signal. I am using the wireless package not wireless-legacy. What is wireless-legacy? It is not in the manual?

thank you...

Log user out of hotspot with browser close?

We are using 2.7.8 and I remember someone once posting some code to allow looging out a user from the hotspot if they vclose their browser window.

Or... is this in 2.8.15 - we have not upgraded as it will cost.

thanks,
