Re: Making netPower switch harder to open

Good idea. I will do that if I can't find a security screw. One other benefit of a security screw over security seal tape is that the mounting fasteners can only be accessed by opening the panel that the thumbscrew secures. Making it difficult to open the panel makes it difficult to rip the unit off...

Re: Making netPower switch harder to open

Agreed, but it can be useful just for it to be quickly obvious whether or not something has been tampered with.

Making netPower switch harder to open

Has anyone found a replacement for the thumbscrew that holds a netPower outdoor switch closed? I'm looking for something that takes some sort of less common / tamper-proof /security bit to unscrew just to add a little more "friction" for someone to be able to open it up.

Bumping this to see if 7.8 solved the boot loop issue for anyone?

Re: Struggling with a site-to-site VPN setup

I made quite a bit of progress on this. IPSec from the branch to the main office is working well, but coming back the other way it gets stuck on the cable modem. Specifically, on the main office RB4011, the IPSec > Installed SAs tab in winbox shows the cable ISP WAN IP at the branch office as "...

Struggling with a site-to-site VPN setup

Hi everyone- I have a main office with a public /24 and a branch office behind a cable modem/router with NAT and a public IP. I'm trying to do a site-to-site VPN so that I can use a public IP from the /24 at the branch office and tunnel *all* traffic behind a RB4011 at the branch to/via the main off...

Re: Newsletter 68

The GPON SFP is great news! The most important piece of information that is missing is OLT compatibility. Is there an initial compatibility list ready?

Re: Comments about RouterOS release schedule

The idea is that you can upgrade to a sub-point release without risking new bugs
Yay!! +1000. Please do this and make it permanent. Stable software >> new features.

CCR EM models and RAM requirements

I'm in the market for a couple of CCR1036's and am trying to figure out if there is any future scenario in which I would need more than the 4GB of RAM in the non-EM models. Is anyone out there using more than 4GB of RAM on a CCR or at least approaching that limit? If you are, could you please share ...

SNMP + BGP

I just saw the following in the BGP FAQ at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:BGP_HowTo_%26_FAQ:
It is not recommended to turn on SNMP on routers with full BGP feed!
Has anyone had a problem with this in practice or know why this is?

Re: CCR1036-8G-2S+EM as a BGP router

Is the EM model necessary for 2 full feeds? From the FAQ:
Our recommendations are at least 256 MB RAM for a single copy of the table and at least 512 MB RAM for two or three copies.
Given the above, what are people doing that requires more than 2GB of RAM and thus the EM model??
