Re: Port scanner filling up connection tracking

You run BGP and don't understand how stateful / stateless firewalls work? I second the suggestion to get a consultant (though not the one above that is also a useless blacklist). You're clearly in over your head here. Using PSD just opens you to further attack when someone decides to spoof the IP o...

Re: Port scanner filling up connection tracking

DIsabling connection tracking as such cannot break BGP. What breaks it is the fact that with connection tracking disabled, the action=accept connection-state=established,related stops working, hence the incoming BGP traffic is dropped by further firewall rules. When connection tracking was disabled...

Re: Port scanner filling up connection tracking

If only the drop rule is in raw the port scanner still fills up the connection tracking within about a minute, 1 million + connections.

Disabling connection tracking breaks BGP.

Re: Port scanner filling up connection tracking

The list rules between filter and raw were identical, grabbing port scanners. They created a list called PSD and dropped the traffic. When I enabled the raw drop rule traffic dropped from 1Gbps to 200Mbps. I changed the tag to PSD2 and it seems to be working but if I disable the black hole routes fo...

Re: Port scanner filling up connection tracking

Okay, now I can catch the traffic but when I enable the drop rule on Raw it drops way too much legit traffic.

If I don't use the drop rule then they still overwhelm the router even with the Filter drop rule in place.

The only thing that works so far is to blackhole the IPs.

LHG 52 AC Netinstall problems?

I've got an LHG 52 AC that won't Netinstall.

It's running 6.44.1, tried Netinstall 6.44.5 and 6.47.7 and neither will pick it up.

I just finished installing several SXT Lite, LHG 5 and SXTsq Lite so the machine is working fine.

LHG 52 AC will not boot from Ethernet.

What's the catch?

United States 3, just not sure why it is listed as Indoors now when it wasn't earlier.

That band is open to general use, has been for years and earlier versions of ROS don't have any kind of limitation.

Did they lose certification or is this listed incorrectly?

UNII 1 is outdoor in the US as well. That's why I'm confused. Initially it was indoor only, they changed that in 2012 or so, changed 3 or 4 times since in how we're allowed to use it.

There are regulations, obviously, but it's available to use outdoors.

Re: Using dual antenna radio for more coverage (Not more bandwidth)

They'll pretty much do that automatically. To make it a little more reliable you can go in to the data rates, choose your config (can't remember the phrasing at the moment) then go the HT tabs and disable all speeds above 7. It won't try anything above single chain speeds. Normally I'm better with t...

You should be able to go to the wireless config, go to the HT tab and disable chain 0 or chain 1 then scan, not sure which is horizontal and which is vertical though.

MIMO improves both range and speed simultaneously, but it uses both chains reading the same signal, more or less, to do the job. Physical separation is required to a degree, but blocking the antennas from receiving the same signals is going to break the signal reconstruction. You're not going to be ...

Power usages graphing?

It would be quite beneficial to have the POE watts and/or mA show up in resource graphing on the POE enabled devices. This would be quite useful on towers using solar power.

Re: v6.35.4 [current] is released!

There is an issue with GRE links in 6.35.4. Pings went crazy, the IP connection didn't work with the primary IP on the router, I had to use the secondary, bandwidth was unreliable, fast at one moment, slow at another. Downgraded both sides to 6.34.6 and everything is working like a champ, just as it...

I've got an Atheros based Compex 802.11n card in my laptop, normal power, like 20dBm max. It is such a huge difference over the Intel card it is ridiculous. A fairly standard Atheros based card will improve it tremendously, no need to go with a high powered car. I used the R52 in my old laptops, but...

I've noticed issues of WDS enabled on ptmp, but not really on ptp.

That being said, WDS is only suppose to halve your bandwidth on a repeater, not a bridge.

I use WDS on my AP to serve a public IP to customers that need it, so they're bridged rather than NAT. I only have one or two per tower.

Unfortunately I'm having to install UBNT hardware to access the 5GHz band at this time.

If I had at least an update that MT has applied for DFS approval in the US I'd much rather go with their equipment. It is much more robust.

My advice is to start out small. If the system is sharing 2Mbps now (barely), start off with 10-20Mbps rather than 50. One of my customers is a fellow WISP and he has just under 100 folks on, same lack of QoS, everyone just gets on and wish you the best of luck. He gets 25Mbps from me, averages abou...

Re: Bad signal level but good SNR....

I've had the exact opposite experience. I've got several APs on the ground and a couple of hotels running MT. The only issues I've had were power and bad capacitors. On the original topic, high tx power is wasted when using laptops for clients. I'll run a R52H at default transmit power so the client...

RB912UAG-2HPnD transmit power

I'm having an issue with self interference on a new AP, started adjusting the tx power of the RB912UAG-2HPnD down from 27dB to 20dB. So far no tx power setting change has had an effect on it. I've got a couple of customers set up temporarily with -85 signal, dropping 7dB on my tx power should drop t...

Re: CCQ>100%....????

Dual chain?

If the radio dropped to a single chain speed while physically connected in dual chain mode then you'd have redundancy, thus 101%.

This doesn't happen on any A/B/G hardware and I haven't seen it on any single chain 802.11n hardware yet.

Re: miniPCIe 2.4ghz MIMO card for RB912UAG-5HPnD-OUT

the Mikrotik RB912UAG-5HPnD-OUT access point you are talking about is just for 5.8 ghz frequency

see http://routerboard.com/RB912UAG-5HPnD
It has a mini PCIe slot for an add in card.

I am still looking for a good source myself.

DBII F50N Pro.

28dB output, though only 20 @ higher data rates.

Re: Check installation error.

I tried reinstalling 5.25, no change.

I downgraded to 5.24, corrected the problem, had a power issue when going back to 5.25 and bricked the board.

I've got a replacement board, I'll try a netinstall next week when my climber gets back.

Re: v6.4 released

This proves that the Mikrotik does not test before they release a new version. Mikrotik leaves that job for us. +1. I am a relatively new MikroTik user, and after several updates breaking things I am now weary of new upgrades. What also concerns me is how many of the bugs seem to be regressions... ...

Re: One 2.4GHz and one 5GHz antenna on the same mast?

I've got a 26dBi 5GHz grid almost touching a 24dBi 2.4GHz grid pointing to the same backhaul 25 miles away without issue.

5GHz is my feed, 2.4GHz is just in case I screw something up I can log in and fix it without driving 45 minutes.

Re: RB2011UAS (v.6.4 - rb3.08) & CRC ERROR

I don't know if this is the same issue I've run into, but I have regularly had CRC errors when connecting anything running RouterOS to any Cisco equipment. After playing with the duplexing I managed to get reliable speeds out of it, most of the time. I have no problems with any other devices, only C...

Check installation error.

Anyone ever gotten this error from check-installation?

ERROR: bad CRC for nova/bin/vm

I've submitted supout.rif to MT support, just checking with the forum to see if anyone has run into this and how to correct it.
