Re: CCR1036 core router FastPath FastTrack question

Thank you for your feedback.
And I think fastpath is enabled by default in all cases where possible.
I only use Firewall for input. And i think that is why fastpath is turned off. How can i keep the security and still use fastpath?

CCR1036 core router FastPath FastTrack question

We are a small ISP. Now we are upgrading our transit from 500Mbit to 10Gbit. We also upgrading our core router to a CCR1036-8G-2S+ The only job for the router is to forward L3 traffic to different customer subnets on different VLANs. (no NAT, no firewall) Is the CCR1036 capable of forwarding 10Gbit ...

Best Type 1 Hypervisor for CHR

Hello.
I am planning to use a Type 1 (bare metal) Hypervisor to run multiple CHR with DUDE server and User Manager.

What is the best suited Hypervisor for CHR?

What Hypervisor is top focus for Mikrotik, and will be best supported in the future?

Re: Best way to assign puplic IP to business customer

Thank you for your nice and informative reply. What is the biggest disadvantage with PPPoE vs TCP/IP? Is the MTU a issue? Can i set the MTU to 1500 as long as i have supported hardware all the way? Will PPPoE handle a 100/100 mbit connection easy? or is it a waste of router cpu? Maby only deliver PP...

Best way to assign puplic IP to business customer

Hello. I have been assigned a /22 IPv4 range by RIPE. I want to save as much addresses as possible. For my wireless private customers i will assign by PPPoE. But I am not sure what is best for my Ethernet connected business customers. I see alot of ISPs are giving out /30 but i think it is a waste t...

Re: Firewall and Fast Path on core router

I think you are right.

Thank you. This was really helpfull ;)

Performance-wise i guess its best to let my PE have the least firewall filters as possible and have a different router for my internal servers and management LAN.

Re: Firewall and Fast Path on core router

Thanks again. I guess I need to let my PE router stay without firewall filters for Fast Path to enable and buy another router for my management LAN where i can filter traffic. Its no point that customer traffic pass my firewall. Do you agree? Do you think its safe to let my PE router stay without an...

Re: Firewall and Fast Path on core router

Thank you for your time. As I understand it here the traffic will only fastpath if it both enter and exit as a MPLS switched traffic. From http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Fast_Path MPLS handler MPLS fast path is automatically used for interfaces that support this feature. Currently MPLS fast-pa...

Firewall and Fast Path on core router

Hello. I have a setup with OSPF routing on my backbone, MPLS/VPLS from the core router to the Acces Points and BGP routing on the provider side. I also have a management LAN for DUDE, Radius server ++ on a different interface. I want the router to fastpath the traffic on the backbone network, and at...

I will look into a fully routed L3 setup with OSPF. I guess it give more options in the future.

PPPoE server placement and TX Limit

Hello. Im working with a WISP setup. What is best practise for PPPoE server placement. And is there a way to limit client TX-limit before the edge router, without setting it in the access-list of the AP. Im using MPLS/VPLS from the AP to the edge router. Is it better to have the PPPoE server on the ...

Re: PTMP overall speed problem

Problem is the cpu of the APs is not fast enough to handle tdma protocol smooth. Plain 802.11 is done by the wireless card but tdma puts a big load to the cpu. With .ac you see plain 802.11 is faster than nv2 due to this. UBNT has some additional HW in some of their newer products to keep up with t...

Re: PTMP overall speed problem

Lets hope they implement prioritation then. I have set the minimum Connection db to -65. Then in my case the problem stopped, and i contacted the customer to find a better placement of the CPE. Its better to have a strict policy on signal and loose connection on one customer, than loose speed on all...

Re: PTMP overall speed problem

Thanks for your answer. This is a 911. I found out the client had a bad placement. But the question is, how can i ensure that this will not happen again? I can set a "Signal strength range" at minimum -65dm in the "Access List" But is it a better way of doing this? I have a plan of expanding my netw...

PTMP overall speed problem

Hello. I have a PTMP setup with a RB912UAB AP with a Ubiquity AM-5G19-120 antenna. 9 Clients: 3x RB911G-5HPnD, 6x RB SXT-5HPnD All at Router OS 6.24 I use NV2 Occasionally i have really bad speed on my entire network. I have come down to that one of my clients (RB911G-5HPnD) is the problem. It opper...
