I suspect transparent proxy is enabled in your IP hotspot user profile. This allows the hotspot server to receive the HTTP request and proxy it to the destination server and forward the reply to your hotspot client. Non-HTTP traffic is not proxied so requires a route from the remote host to the hots...

Freeside

We are setting up Freeside with the help of the program's maintainer. This is a very full-featured open-source billing system including payment processing. We aren't done yet but it looks very promising. I'm told others are using Mikrotik with it.
