Re: Monitor Users Web activity

I just went through this setup myself. If you complete newbie - it might be too much to handle. But in a nutshell - it is done via Logging capabilities of Mikrotik. And there is 2 ways to approach. And you don't get any kind of "reporting" with stats, etc out of Mikrotik. Mikrotik has all the tools ...

Re: How to Save Browsing history of clients through Mikrotik

Not in all cases. Imagine an DOS from one of your clients. Where should I put it? At the end (where script put's it) - there is nothing in log First - there is no duplicated entries. If you have two lines with the same content one by one - there was two connections. Good to know. But even if it's 2...

Re: How to Save Browsing history of clients through Mikrotik

Great, thank you for the info! I would like to point that this firewall rule need to be moved to the top in order for this info to be captured. I have couple of simple questions: 1. What is "syn" exactly? Does it capture ANY activity? Basically any TCP packets sent through router will be captured, r...

Fixed now.. I inserted cable into PORT 10, let connection setup and took cable out. Light went off and problem stopped.

I don't know what it was, but there is something about this PoE port..

ether6-master-local: bridge port received packet with own address as source address (4c:5e:0c:d0:82:14), probably loop

Just started to have this message in log repeatedly. I did not introduce anything to network nor I changed any settings. I did update router to the lates OS though(router 2011UiAS). What I see is that Port 10 LED flashing constantly also there is no cable in port 10. I removed ALL cables from router...

Re: GRE tunnel and remote desktop on non-standard port (4005)

Yep. It wasn't tunnel. I couldn't ping PC in B when on A network, but it pings just fine when I'm on A network. I haven't seen this stuff before. It was Windows 7 machine and it's firewall. I had exception for 4005 but it didn't work. After I disabled firewall everything works. I did add rule to all...

I setup very general GRE tunnel that suppose to allow anything both ways. As I mentioned, from location B I can RDP to location's A computers. This particular computer at B should be open because I can RDP to it just fine when on B network. I was curious if there might be something about special por...

GRE tunnel and remote desktop on non-standard port (4005)

I created GRE tunnel between 2 locations(A and B). Everything working great. I have couple machines in "A" with standard SSH and RDP ports and I can connect to them fine from any locations. But I have one machine in B with RDP on 4005 and RDP from A does not work. From B it does. Any suggestions on ...

Ok, here is the deal. I have network printer/scanner. Long time. This is Dell 1815dn On Windows PC I install driver and setup "scanner" access to this printer. Then, on printer I can scan to "Network", it finds PC and places scanned document into proper folder on PC. Why Mikrotik? Well. All this was...

Re: What kind of tunnel do I need in my case? Pointers needed

Actually, I made it to work and it works well! Using their manual. But I made it static. My home IP changes when there is issue with provider router, probably 2-3 times a year so I'm running it like this for now. Will need to figure out scripting to make it bulletproof.

I use PPTP VPN to connect to "worklplace". From my windows PC. Now since I got Mikrotik I figured why do that if I can use MT built-in VPN client, right? But I have problem configuring it. I don't need VPN to browse internet. I need VPN ONLY to access other network. So, what I have now: Created PPTP...

Hi!

Thank you for reply. However, sample provided doesn't cover my scenario. On one end I have dynamic IP. My office MT has static IP and my home MT has dynamic IP. Is there any instruction on how this can be done? Hopefully without any scripts or DNS lookups (because there is no dynamic DNS at home)

Ok, I guess simple fix and I guess this will be a problem for many newbies who uses auto-config. If I change base IP and range and click "Apply" in Auto-config - almost everything was great except that DHCP server setup DNS name server stayed .88.1 and of course "no internet".

Re: Hairpin NAT - no luck

This will actually cause the pinhole on all interfaces, but port 8080 shouldn't matter. If it does matter, you can limit the rule a little more by adding a criteria dst-address=!192.168.0.0/16 - so the LAN IP won't have the pinhole - just the public IP. Can you explain why would it matter for examp...

You'll quickly move away from quickset. I've screwed up my router with it a few times back when it was new and I was playing with it because it was interesting.
