Re: does Mikrotik support RFC5549

I'm also interested to see an example config for this. I tried using a v4 AFI over an IPv6 only peering back in 7.3 but wasn't able to make it work and didn't have time to troubleshoot. From what I can tell this is still not working as of v7.7beta8. Mikrotik opened two bugs, and I haven't gotten no...

Re: What is the reason IPv4 prefixes over IPv6 BGP peer could not work?

I was doing this pretty late at night and think I was a bit sleep deprived. Thinking about it with a clearer head in the morning, of course there’s no IPv4 NEXT_HOP because there’s no configured IPv4 address to use. Does your configuration have at least one IPv4 address configured to use as transpo...

Re: does Mikrotik support RFC5549

Config depends on the setup but in any case nexthop can be adjusted with routing filters. It is also not limited just to BGP, you can add IPv4 static routes with IPv6 gateways. Can you provide an example of this? I have tested setting static IPv6 nexthops {set gw} on afi4 routes, which will go acti...

Re: ros7 bgp ipv6 advertisement doesn't work

ROSv6 had hacks to guess what ipv6 nexthop to set automatically. In case of eBGP on a shared network it is easy and we can get and use link-local address, which we will add as a feature in the future. But in other cases you would still need to adjust nexthop with routing filters according to your n...

Re: does Mikrotik support RFC5549

I see that RFC5549 is now listed as supported at least since v7.1 here https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... l+Overview but have found no other mentions. Is there a configuration guide or feature description, or is it as simple as passing AFI v4 over a v6 peering?

Re: v7.1rc4 [development] is released!

Guys, RIP routing protocol on ROS v7 is still not working. You mentioned in the changelog that RIP is supported but in fact it is not operational. I have made the tests and routes are not being learned. Can you please fix this issue ASAP? Thanks. maherhaddad, did you get any further with this? I've...

Performance isn't amazing — I'm getting about 14.5 Mbps (iperf3 tcp) with NAT to ZT hosts sharing a LAN interface with an RB3011 running RC2. Anyone getting better? Regardless, this is super useful and cool. [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate [ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 2.00 MBytes 16.8 Mbits/sec [ 5] 1.00-2.00...

OSPFv3 and RIPng

According to https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/v7+Routing+Protocol+Status RIP and OSPF should be functional under 7.1beta4. However, I've tested on RB3011, CRS309, and CCR1009, with fiber, copper, and DAC at 1 and 10G, and have suffered abject failure. OSPFv3 results in the following in the...

Re: fq_codel or cake in v7

Steveocee, That's cool that fq_codel works on a Hex. Are you able to determine whether it uses more, or less CPU, than your large queue tree, or is that not a fair comparison? Jeremy Upgraded my Hex last night and removed my extremely large queue tree for a simple FQ_CoDel queue. So far so good, onl...

Re: IPv6 recursive nexthops via iBGP

It's not possible to use Mikrotik in a real production-quality dual-stack service provider network without working BGP. I'd hate to see the CCR series, for example, be left out in the cold, if we have to wait for an entirely new generation of hardware to get ROS7. Not to spread FUD, but I don't have...

Re: Wireless Wire MTU, stability

You might create a temporary workaround by setting up an EoIP or VPLS tunnel over the wirless link. Both tunnel types support fragmentation and reassembly Thanks, sup5. In this case, I am using the wireless wire as trunks in a TRILL mesh, and TRILL adds headers already. So I need to be able to set ...

Re: Wireless Wire MTU, stability

Hi Tomas. I have started a ticket already. I hoped someone else might have seen this as well. In the context of any type of encapsulation, the actual configured MTU is somewhat misleading. The bridge will attempt to forward the packet, and the link crashes. There is no way to filter out the packet u...

Re: Wireless Wire MTU, stability

The plot thickens further. On both current and rc builds, Wireless Wire has an issue at any MTU over 1704. To replicate, set L2/L3 MTU on Wireless Wire eth1 and w60 interfaces to Nominal MTU. Send a packet through the bridge larger than Actual MTU, and the link will go down. Nominal MTU — Actual MTU...

Wireless Wire MTU, stability

I've been testing Wireless Wire with Ignitenet's Meshlinq (TRILL) switches in the lab. Version: current 6.42.6 Current 60Ghz max L2 MTU is 2290. Sending a decapsulated ICMP packet to the Wireless Wire nodes of > 2264 (including headers) causes a 60 Ghz link down event! In practice, this limit is eve...

Derrick, I was thinking about extending the idea of the virtual interfaces to OSPF. Doing something like monitoring adjacency count, and downing the bridge using a timer (for detecting flapping). Have you tried this?

Re: [MPLS-TE] Balancing 2+ different bandwidth links [SOLVED]

I've been working on a pseudo-manual method using MPLS-TE, BGP communities, and link coloring to "manually" make more preferred paths for traffic-of-interest, overriding OSPF costs.

Does this interest you?

Re: IPv6 recursive nexthops via iBGP

ZeroByte, thanks for the detailed comments. After further testing, I have reached the same conclusions you have. I would rather not tunnel — although I did briefly contemplate a full-mesh MPLS/VPLS for directly peering each IPv6 router. (Traffic queue management would be just one problem with that d...

Re: IPv6 recursive nexthops via iBGP

Hi The only workaround we have seen so far for iBGP IPv6 routes to get active is to add a static ipv6 route for the loopback IP for the next-hop delivered through the route-reflectors. Both return no entries in 6.37.3 or 6.38.1

BGP stuck open sent/tunneling

I run a BGP session over an L2TP tunnel. Normally this works fine. Occasionally though, one end of the peer (the L2TP client end) will end up with the tunnel established, but the BGP peer stuck in 'open sent'. When this happens, the only recourse is to bounce the BGP peer (disable/enable.) This peer...

Re: Google Cloud IPsec VPN to Mikrotik IPsec VPN problem.

You need to get lower-level technical specs for the VPN in order to be able to setup your router. There probably exists a document that lists these specs. These are available; look for the compatibility settings for Google Cloud VPN + AWS. I got as far as phase 2, and SAs installed, but then ran in...

Ubiquiti has admitted that they are not passing these packets. They'll look into allowing them. (The RFC implies that they should be passed, but does not make it explicit.)
