Re: Public-Mikrotik-Bandwidth-Test-Server

Hi Tom, Thank you very much for providing this! My results are below. Are you planning to keep this server running permanently (for the foreseeable future, or until you run out of spare bandwidth)? Or is this a temporary project only? It would be awesome if it's long-term, but either way, thank you...

Re: Multicast over VPN for site-to-site

Hi ZeroByte, Thanks for the comment. We decided to go a different route for how to do this, but it's good to know there are other options for this. I didn't have time to test in detail the scenario you describe. I followed this: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Multicast_detailed_example but did...

Re: Multicast over VPN for site-to-site

After digging on the forum and other websites/blogs, I found that EoIP w/ IPSEC and PPTP are the only ones that passed multicast traffic. GRE w/IPSEC, IP Tunnel w/IPSEC and LAN to LAN IPSEC setups work fine for "general" VPN connection but not for multicast. Please keep in mind I didn't te...

Multicast over VPN for site-to-site

I'm trying to set up multicast session for MikroTik-to-MikroTik VPN connection. IPSec over IP tunnel and IPSec over GRE work ok for pinging between the 2 LAN subnets but I can't seem to detect multicast traffic over them. I have a device behind router 1 that is set up as a multicast server on 224.0....

Re: IPsec over IP Tunnel-losing pings one way

It turns out when a backup was restored on the second test MikroTik router, the MAC addresses were cloned and it was causing weird issues. Found this by doing a config export on both routers and noticed that the interfaces on one router had MAC addresses assigned explicitly (which doesn't show up in...

IPsec over IP Tunnel-losing pings one way

Hi all, I'm testing a site-to-site IPSec tunnel over IPIP tunnel before it gets deployed. Scenario is multicast server device on one end; multicast client device on another end, both behind MikroTik routers connected to each other over the IPIP IPSec tunnel. During a test on an isolated network I ca...

Multicast over IP Tunnel IPSec Site to Site connection

I decided to go with an IP Tunnel IPSec setup instead of PPTP. Pinging from LAN side of first router to LAN side of second router and vice-versa seems to work fine.

I still have to figure out how to get multicast traffic working over this link.
Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thanks!

Issues with Site to Site PPTP connection

Hello, I've used the 2 links below as a reference to set up a PPTP connection with tunnel bridging. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/PPTP#Site-to-Site_PPTP http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:BCP_bridging_%28PPP_tunnel_bridging%29 What I'm trying to achieve is 2 RB450G routers with PP...

Devices on same subnet & same bridge can't talk to each other

It is a seemingly simple scenario where there are 2 devices, both with static IPs on the same subnet, plugged into eth4 & eth5 which are part of the same bridge but for some reason the devices can't communicate with each other. I thought this should work by default with no extra configuration......
