Re: v6.39.1 [current]

I had a very annoying issue when upgrading an RB3011 today. This was probably because I've tried repartitioning it in previous RouterOS versions (unsuccesfully of course, since this is only officially supported since 6.39.1). I upgraded from RouterOS 6.38.5 to 6.39.1. This caused it to get stuck in ...

Re: Is VRRP working in 6.38.5?

From your description it sounds like the VRRP broadcasts don't make it to the other routers. Might there be a firewall for inbound traffic on these firewalls that blocks this?

Re: Feature Req: IKEv2 server and client

For those that are interested: here is a working configuration for an IKEv2 tunnel to Azure. This config works both as initiator and responder. a.a.a.a = Public IP of your Azure VPN gateway b.b.b.b = Public IP of the Mikrotik c.c.c.c/cc = Private IP range on the Azure side d.d.d.d/dd = Private IP ra...

Re: wAP AC PoE Compatibility - No Gigabit

We just installed a couple of wAP AC's powered by a RB260GSP last week, and those all show their Ethernet ports running at 1 Gbps. This is with the latest RouterOS (6.36.2).

Re: HAP AC

I think the biggest thing is that it's not using local forwarding, which means that the CPU is tunneling the traffic back to the CAPSMAN. You think that without CAPSMAN would achieve a better result? mavink : Can you test it without CAPSMAN and with disabled connection tracking? I might have some t...

Re:

Was it in fastpath mode?
AFAIK it is; the "allow fastpath" setting is on and there are no firewall rules (this is an internal AP used for testing, and all traffic is handled by the CAPsMAN router). The complete config is available here:

Re: HAP AC

What channel width was used?
Have you any screenshots? Please share it with us.
That's 80 MHz, the Macbook connected as "877.5Mbps-80MHz/3S". But the limiting factor appears to be the CPU in the hAP AC, not a lack of wireless bandwidth. What would you like to see screenshots of?

For those that are interested in using the hAP AC with CAPsMAN: throughput stats using that setup, with no local forwarding (i.e. routing/firewalling handled on the router hosting CAPsMAN). All tests done between a Linux machine connected through gigabit ethernet directly in the router running CAPsM...

Re: Mikrotik VDSL / DSL Modem?

They have 3 types of chip sets. Two of them can operate in CPE or CO mode. I don't think the SFP can do CO mode. Not a deal killer but would be nice if it would do CO mode. I could use a 24 port SFP cage switch and mix and match modules, VDSL2, Fiber and Ethernet. I would use the RB's with SFP port...

RB3011 will not have hw encryption support enabled in ROSv6.
HW encryption works only with Ipsec.
That's good to know. Is hardware encryption for IPSec already enabled form the RB3011, or are you still working on that?

How much throughput can be expected on an RB3011 for simple queues? I just had a hardware failure and I'm looking for a good value replacement that can handle a few hundred Mbps... Please add a feature allowing display of a custom .bmp 24/7/365 with for example a company logo and contact number.
That feature is already available through branding packages.

Am I reading it correctly? 16MB storage ONLY? So... no partitions and a problematic upgrade process? Is this possible? This is the same as the HAP Lite; the upgrade file is loaded in RAM. I've never had a problem upgrading those, but it would have been nice to have enough storage for two partitions.

Let me get this clear, so on configuration with 1x antenna, 802.11ac on 5GHz is no better than 802.11n? No, 802.11ac will be a lot better, even with a single antenna. With 40 MHz of bandwidth you can get a theoretical data rate of 200 Mbps, versus 150 Mbps for 802.11n; but 802.11ac can also use 80 ...

Re: Support for ACME/Let's Encrypt certificate management [SOLVED]

This would be a great feature. Configure a couple of hostnames you want certificates for, and then have the firewall automatically request/renew them with letsencrypt.org. This will save a lot of time, especially when using services that require a valid certificate such as SSTP VPN's.

We found a small bug in the latest (6.32.2) release. In webfig, when trying to copy a client to the access list (from the registrations tab in CAPsMAN v2) we get an internal server error and are redirected to the login screen. Doing the same thing with winbox works fine.

Re: Cloud Hosted Router

I don't think they really know Mikrotik RouterOS. If they did they wouldn't say that there will be a significant processing overhead because of IDE.
Once Mikrotik boots it pretty much writes almost nothing to the disk. So there is no disk IO to cause any load :P
That was my exact response :D
