Easiest way to split WAN bandwidth between bridge1 devices?

Hi guys, I was wondering, what is the easiest and simplest way to do a basic Internet bandwidth split\share or prioritization between connected devices say for example bridge1 (eth + wlan). I'm talking basic out of the box Routeros devices with WAN on eth1, bridge has the rest of eth ports and wlan ...

Block LAN access, allow only Internet + some restrictions

Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out this: I have a LAN, 192.168.88.0/24 One IP within this LAN is assigned to a Ubiquity AP wich serves Internet access to a small park. The IP is 192.168.88.254 via static DHCP. The AP has it's own DHCP and subnet (10.10.10.0/24). I would like to block access to my 192...

Re: More than 254 IPs needed! What options do I have?

I fully agree with that. I routinely use /23 /22 and /21 subnets without any issues. Furthermore, when you extend the existing subnet the existing addresses can remain the same. I agree. I've done it numerous times without a hitch. Especially on DHCP-only networks without anything statically config...

Re: More than 254 IPs needed! What options do I have?

There are only 3 devices wich have static IPs, 2 Hikvision DVRs on wich we have access and a Konica Minolta Bizhub printer on wich we also have access.

I will reduce the lease time, I believe many of the IPs are used by random smartphones that just come and go.

512 would be more than enough.

Hi guys! So I have this situation in a small school in wich the current network is really badly configured and they reached (I think) the limits of their LAN subnet. Do you guys know any freeware or trial wifi analyzer software for Windows? I'm going to try tomorrow and do a comparison test between the TP-Link Archer C7 and the RB962.

I playes with some other settings today, did another reset to factory defaults and still, the range is less than the Archer.

Re: How do I take this? Static routes?

You are mostly correct. As of 6.40, there is no more master/slave config. But the concept is the same. eth4 cannot be bridged or a slave of any other interface, it becomes separate (a routing interface instead of a switch interface). You put an IP on that interface, say 192.168.100.1/24 from your e...

Re: How do I take this? Static routes?

Yeah, NAT will work as long as they know the address of the printer in the other network and whatever else they need to get to. Some modern devices assume everything is in the same L2 domain so they can discover each other so you might lose that. mdns, ssdp and such. There might be a way to make th...

Re: How do I take this? Static routes?

You can. If you want to keep that traffic separate from the rest you would have to put in firewall rules on the hAP that you put the new network on. The rules would keep the 2 subnets from contacting each other. If you look at the default config of a MikroTik, you can see in /ip firewall nat the ma...

In an in-house network structured like that, you would normally use "bridge" mode instead of "routing" mode, so everything is in a single subnet and all addresses are assigned by the router closest to the WAN (or are static). Yes I would use that too, but this location is very limited in what I can...

The auto-negotiation standard grew to quickly. Vendors may have different interpretations on how 10/100 auto-negotiation should work. These interpretation issues are rare in gigabit links. Without auto-negotiation, link speed can still be determined but duplex cannot. If you set both devices to 100...

Re: RB951Ui-2HnD with external antennas

Hi guys, I also did the mod on my recent RB951Ui-2HnD, Took the pigtails from a dead TP-Link 941nd and soldered them on the unpopulated (ufl?) connector pads, and moved the small (pain the arse) capacitor on the right track at the Y circuit trace. I'm currently testing it with 2x10 dbi antennas from...

Re: hAP lite TC - is antenna mod possible?

When I would have to do that, my first try would be to cut the trace that you labeled "center wire" flush with the ground plane, and solder a thin coax cable with the center conductor on the trace and the braid soldered to the ground plane on both sides, as short as possible. Or solder a small coax...

Sounds like your trying to switch and bridge the same ports. If you have ether3, 4 & 5 as master-port 2 then just Ether2 should be added to the bridge.
Sorry, I wrote it wrong!

Yes,

Ether3 4 and 5 are set having ether2 as master and bridge1 has ether2 and wlan1 as ports.

You did it right. Not really - at least not with all the bells and whistles you're asking for such as looking for host IDs in DHCP leases. I will point out that the most reliable scanning tool is an ARP ping scan. Many hosts can have OS-level firewalls active which often refuse to answer pings. But the host can't re...

Yes, that's what hairpin NAT is for. You need to remove the in-interface filter from your dstnat and put in dst-address-type=local instead.
