Problem with 6.44.5 long term with advanced routing failover - ping problems

Hello all! At one of our sites which is using multiple 4G connections we have this: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Advanced_Routing_Failover_without_Scripting implimented. I've noticed that the connections were 'failing' a lot more frequently than they usually would. It seems whats happening is the ...

Re: Need a clarification on hotspot trial user

Ideally, you need to kick people off the network, and get them to reconnect so the leases get retaken and then they log in to hotspot with the timeout working properly. Yes, I know I'm 2 years late in my response, but maybe this will help some other poor soul so they can avoid the pain that I've exp...

Re: Need a clarification on hotspot trial user

Hello, I'm not 100% sure on how to set the trial uptime limit and trial uptime reset but I've set the trial uptime reset to be lower than the trial uptime limit (so no one ever gets limited hopefully). You need to make sure that the DHCP leases, the idle timeout, the keepalive timeout and the mac co...

Re: Question - Bandwidth shaping Simple Queues

Yes, as much as I like the Fast.com speed test, I don't think its the most accurate. I can get inflated numbers when I do tests with it, yet when I look on the interface on the router I'm seeing the 'real' numbers. Use something like speedtest.net or dslreports speedtest as these will give more 'acc...

Re: Connecting the same VPN over 2 gateways at the same time

Do I get you right that the VPN connection is initiated by the router whose primary uplink gets jammed? And can you provide two VPN accounts for that router so that the two VPN sessions to the remote IP could be established in parallel? And, equally important, what VPN protocol do you use? Thats co...

Connecting the same VPN over 2 gateways at the same time

Hello, I have a site with 2 internet connections, they are both setup with default routes and separate routing marks and mangle etc. We have a dedicated outgoing VPN for remote access/troubleshooting etc. The problem is that sometimes they use all the bandwidth on one of the connections and it gets ...

IPSec site to site VPN problems

Hi guys, I'm having an odd problem. I've setup 2 site to site VPNs, my mtik to a draytek and another from my mtik to an edgerouter (if it were my choice I'd have mtik everywhere!) which are both working fine from both ends. If I try and ping either of the remote networks (router ips) from the Mtik d...

Best model of router for job?

Hey all, I'm currently trying to decide on what router to use for a small office. There are about 15-20 computers and it needs to support (20mbit max) IPSec VPN over the internet to a Draytek router. I've had a look at the 750s 951s and the Hex, and from looking at the specs, they all seem pretty mu...

Re: PPPoE connection to UK BT ADSL, MTU with RFC 4638

Thanks for the heads up troffasky! That neatly answers my question as to why I'm not getting the MTU I should. I'm quite amazed I didn't come across that post sooner in my myriad of googling that I did. SystemErrorMessage, thank you for your informative post, unfortunately in this situation it was a...

Re: BT Move to IPV6

Hello, I'm not totally sure about how you will acquire an address from BT when they switch it on. In answer to your other questions, yes, you keep the IPv4 addresses as they are now, you'll have a separate pool, or single IPv6 address. Firewalling will have to be setup separately for v6 with new rul...

PPPoE connection to UK BT ADSL, MTU with RFC 4638

Hello all! I've recently started using an RB2011 as my main router with all its PCQing and configurability and visibility :) I've been trying to get a 1500 MTU working with RFC 4638. I've set the ether1 interface MTU to 1508 (as required) and set the MTU and MRU to 1500 on the PPPoE client connectio...
