I seem to have found the issue. My Bridge CRS125-24G AP was faulty. Before writing my original post, I bought another one which I received today. Plugged it in and was in action within a few minutes.

I have two routers, a 24 port Mikrotik and an 8 port Mikrotik in a nearby office connected via ethernet to the 24 port.

All I want to do is create a wireless access point ... have I done this correctly?
