Even worse you really can't have the same subnet on 2 interfaces... Like here: 192.168.0.5/24 on interface ether1 192.168.0.6/24 on interface ether2 Both gateways are 192.168.0.1. The problem is that when the router tries to go to the gateway, it doesn't know which route to use (.5 or .6). What I wo...

For cooling I've thought about using a metal box and basically channel outside air only across the heatsink (and maybe powerpack) using fans, and keep the rest of the box sealed... Maybe mount heatsinks outside the pipe itself so the pipe itself can absorb heat from the box... Maybe like a 3" p...

I did this experimentally, but what I did was this: Mark the TCP Port 80 traffic flow as "Web" in Mangle rules Setup a policy route in IP Route as follows: Create a table called "WebProxy" Add to it 0.0.0.0/0 gateway=gateway_1, gateway_2 Under Rules, create 2 rules (one for each ...

At home I'm using a CB3 with a Mikrotik AP on 802.11b. I have a Asterisk server at work, and use a Grandstream ATA-286. We use it all the time to make calls (incoming and outgoing) and it works great. I'm going to try it in my car soon (we have probably a 3x8 mile area of coverage using sector panel...

And the heat is the reason for needing bigger dishes - but we had the luxury of rack-mounting the computers in the server room, so they are in nice 2U rackmount cases. Unfortunately the one building's third-floor server room was 50 ft from the roof conduit. The other building was a single story, wit...

Well as it should be, if you create NEW site (different IP) that serves no other purpose than telling your customer that they didn't pay the bill, I don't think google would ever get to it to index it, right? I changed out the dishes on my 1/4 mile link to 29dbi parabolic (2ft). Each end has 60 ft of LMR400. It's running on a 1.8 Celeron with MT 2.8.21, AR5213 cards, in 5ghz-turbo mode. THe goal for this connection was absolutely the fastest speed, with total reliability. This link is actually redundantl...

Problem with multicasting software to clients is error correction. Multicasting is UDP, in addition to the fact that the wireless itself doesn't do error correction when multicasting. You could only multicast something like music or video. You could use *broadcasting* (you know, x.x.x.255) which sti...

One-way video broadcast to 5ghz clients

Okay, imagine I am broadcasting a 36Mbps UDP stream (54Mbps air rate), multicast PtMP. The client units are each recieving the whole stream and picking up whatever channel they're looking for via multicast address. What would happen if one of those clients were to have a bad signal, would it slow do...
