Re: Another thread asking for help with port forwarding (RB750Gr3)

pe1chl, i know. Everything you said is what I often do. You need to understand what you are doing and why. I will need to look more at the filter rules and check that everything is configured the right way. Even though I could switch to another brand, I would rather stay with mikrotik because the ha...

Re: Another thread asking for help with port forwarding (RB750Gr3)

Removed my configuration and changed the my original post. I found the problem or issue. After checking some YT videos again and other sources it sure looked like my configuration was correct. I then checked my "filter rules" and found what was wrong. So there was nothing wrong with the NA...

Re: Another thread asking for help with port forwarding (RB750Gr3)

Ok, sorry for delay. I did use notepad++ if that helps. The best thing is is you could post the configuration with colors and that but does this forum support that. So I did find books on Linux IP tables perhaps that will help when and if I can read up on it, if I understand it.. I think I never man...

Another thread asking for help with port forwarding (RB750Gr3)

Hi. I have used mikrotik for a long time but I always found the most difficult part to configure is the firewall tab. I am a home user with some experience of small home networks, LAN. I wish there was some basic guide for what a default configurations for the firewall rules should look like for a h...

Re: Simple DNS question

Hmm. Found this.

viewtopic.php?t=66218

I guess you could do that, but if the Dynamic DNS does change you will have to fix that. Or keep track of it.

Simple DNS question

Hi. I have been messing around with my old but trusty rb 433ah Mikrotik, and this came up with the DNS settings under Winbox. Also because a month ago I was doing configuration on a zyxel usg device. If you are connected to a ISP with regular broadband, they provide, dynamic IP, dynamic DNS and some...

Re: question about DNS allow remote requests

I too had the same experience. Kind of sneaky that there is no information about this in the mikrotik wiki. "Allow remote request" under DNS setting. Speeds things up something most users can benefit from. What one must do is to block DNS requests from the WAN side, otherwise after a while...

Re: How do we filter torrent now?

josecignetti, well that is probably not possible. You can not filter most traffic any more because of encryption. You can block DNS and IP numbers. This will work OK but it is not a fix. People can use VPN to bypass these problems and there are other ways of getting around this. You could limit band...

Re: DST-NAT not working as it should [SOLVED]

Hmm, after some research and actually switching to a zyxel usg firewall it turned out that my mikrotik configuration need to be improved but over all there was not wrong. The mikrotik wiki on DST-NAT is correct, and my open ports are open, the sneaky part was that for some service on internet that c...

DST-NAT not working as it should [SOLVED]

Hi. Been running MikroTik RB433 for a while now, I do not have that much experience using the product, at least some know-how of networks and have been using other devices like, watchguard, zywall but not in any advanced configuration. Mostly for basic firewall stuff. Anyway it seems I can not get t...

Re: MMCX connector for RP-SMA ? [SOLVED]

Bomber67, yes I know that.

However, as my plans have changed this is not a issue any more.

Anyway I got the answer I was looking for that these connectors on the home
equipment are only test points and nothing else. So question solved for me.

Thanks

Re: MMCX connector for RP-SMA ? [SOLVED]

OK, so it was correct, that home use devices do not have any way of attaching a external antenna unless you do modifications. And the type of connector in these devices are just test points ? I know about the other equipment, I just feel that most of the new hardware that MikroTik has on offer is th...

MMCX connector for RP-SMA ? [SOLVED]

I did read some information about this in the forums but it was unclear to me, confusing perhaps. Anyway, it seems to me, or am I wrong that Mikrotik devices have MMCX connectors or it looks like that type of connector, but someone said it was only a "test" point and not for connecting ext...

Re: Wi-Fi speed issues on hAP AC Lite

Oh. So it would be better to go for the wAP ac device instead. That could work too, even though I would have to get some MMCX-RPSMA pigtail cables and modify the device with external antennas. Hmm, perhaps the cable option is better. It all comes down to cost and effort I have to put in, to get the ...

Re: Wi-Fi speed issues on hAP AC Lite

I am updating this post too. Is this still a problem. I want to use these devices for local 2.4Ghz AP and then use the 5Ghz single channel as a uplink or point-to-point link to another Hap AC lite device which would then transport the data out onto a LAN network and through another mikrotik device t...

Re: Mikrotik Dual Chain0 and Chain1 Wireless Network Help

Ok. I will give it a try. If I am wrong someone has to correct me as I do not have that much know how about networking. Try to separate network radio chip, from the word "chain". There are single, dual or triple -chain for WLAN. The "chain" it self represent a path to the radio c...

Re: v6.34.6 [bugfix] is released!

Is this the last "bug fix" version or will there be more ?

At what stages is bug fixing frozen for current versions, (just like 5.26 is legacy and frozen).

Not that I use that version but still, would like to know.

Re: Bye bye MIKROTIK...

Tssss. Ridiculous. Mikrotik is great and has lots of updates and support, plus a great forum where you can get the help you need (community), but it is also a "advanced" product and not for everyone. I would say, one drawback is you need to know what you are doing when setting it up, it is...

Re: Open ports for outside access

Yeah, I am having problems too, confusing what actions to use, as some say it is this, and others say it is that. If you check youtube videos they help, but from what I can tell some of them are doing things the wrong way. Anyway, what works for me but not to 100% is that the action should be "...
